I’m the Stephanie of Stephanie Pütter Jewelry. This small but mighty business has been my love affair, obsession and Mount Olympus for 20 years.

I started at the bench. Learned the mysteries of metal and the magic of gems. I love the craft but was drawn to the design side. And the treasure hunt for antique pieces—well that’s an obsession worthy of its own post.

So I’ve evolved and stretched to the creative direction you see now. A happy marriage of old and new. An approach that honors your past, cheers your present and celebrates your future. It’s my goal to curate and reimagine one of a kind pieces that will make your heart sing.

It’s worth mentioning that in addition to be a jewelry nerdette, I like giving old treasures a new life. Saving what’s timeless from the scrap heap. Showing you how what’s classic can have edge. What’s chic can be cheeky. And that the best kind of style makes you feel invincible.

In the midst of the vitriol and hatred we are bombarded with every day, I’m struck by the simple realization that love, kindness, and compassion are the only values I want to celebrate.

My family has been blessed with two weddings and two engagements this year. Beautiful young couples who have decided to make a commitment to love and to each other. Their optimism and open-hearted point of view lifts me up.

Because nothing is guaranteed in life, least of all happiness. However, we have a choice to make about where we put our energy. We have a choice to make about where we take a leap of faith. We have a choice to make about what we have time for and what we don’t. And when I see bright, caring, kind young adults choose love, I feel like there’s hope yet for this torn, wounded world.

As you know, my pieces are one of a kinds I’ve sourced in Europe and reimagined in NYC. That’s what makes them special and treasured.

When it comes to rings, I take a less is more design approach. They get treated to a steam bath and some TLC as needed. Other than that, they proudly wear their age. In many cases they can be resized—but I prefer not to ruin any hallmarks of their history.

What a gorgeous Saturday in Sag Harbor! We were on the grounds of the Old Whaler’s Church with the beautiful old cemetery behind us. Perfect weather. Delightful customers. Our puppy Tulip, happy at our side. It was a super day.

And the perfect finale of an amazing summer in Southampton, Amagansett, Westhampton and Sag.

Do you love bangles? They add great style to a bracelet stack, look fab worn with a watch and these old ones have such wonderful details. The oval shape is comfy and doesn’t bang around if you’re working on the computer. And antique gold fill has such a rich lasting finish—it’s really an amazing look for so much less than solid gold.
