To be an artist is beautiful serious. I grew up in a time where if you sang or danced you were an entertainer. I am grateful to the Nina Simones Abby Lincolns and Liz Wright

Since that morning I've been investigating all aspects of my creative and business life to ask myself, “what could it mean for me to take better care of myself as an artist and person. How might such care influence my wellbeing and work over time? How can I care for other artists? What do artists really need? What do artists have to offer one another and how can I facilitate exchange?”

Somewhere between the kitchen and my next concert, Blues and Greens became a reality in my mind. It gave me an opportunity to think deeply about sustainability, wellness and sound business practices for myself and others who've committed their lives to creating experiences and works of art that reflect and influence the human experience. I began to ask myself what the true value of such a life commitment really is and how to see a career in the arts reflect such value.

Within my own journey of unraveling over 20 years in this business and reflecting on tangled and expired agreements, a few forged relationships and plenty of fog from general confusion, I suddenly could see how my own journey through gratefulness, cleaning and healing could offer me an abundance of clarity and inspiration for how I might help other creatives.

It's taken a while to complete this and it's not all together finished yet. BUT beyond happy to share with you that today I completed the project for my last Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Grant. Live show still not happening due to Covid-19 so we made a movie and will share it with all of you when it's finished editing. Thanks to Miki Yamanaka, Jimmy McBride, Joel Frahm and Ugonna Okegwo...an amazing band and an amazing afternoon of music. and to Jamal Joseph and our amazing crew. THANK YOU. THANK YOU
