We're setting up the logistics now for several locations. I am doing this in a bit of a rush while writing the manuscripts related to the research made possible, in no small part, to the people in these images!

I'm incredibly grateful to be able to have my research highlighted and supported by NNational Geographic OOceanX BBBC Dr. KKerri DawnSeger, the OceanXplorers, MMark Dalio and so many more who will be recognized in my posts as the trailers continue to be released until August 18th air date.

4th graders made my day. 🥰

I was invited to do a presentation for a 4th grade class today. The kids are studying the ocean and communication. The topic is a fun one for me because my perspective is different as a deaf person.
The questions....that's when they really got me.
There were the usual questions about killer whales, my favorite animal, and a few that were different. But then....
....one kid asked if I was every bullied in school.
I surprised myself. I think I wanted to tell kids before so many things so the bullies would hear my side and the bullied would be safer being themselves.
I told them;
I was bullied for being loud because I was deaf but nobody knew it.
I was bullied because I had wicked ADHD and talked a lot, learned a lot, was interested in a lot but always had a hard time finishing stuff up.
I told them I was bullied for being good at math and better at science.
I was bullied because I loved being in the woods and on the beaches and that was "different". I dressed differently. Not cool, country.
I was bullied for a lot of reasons but those bullies do not have the coolest job on the planet like I do. Those bullies can't match my superpower to solve puzzles and learn new things about our world. Those bullies don't travel the world and meet cool people and see cool stuff.

I told those kids, "I do those things. I do the cool the cool things. Embrace your superpowers like I did and know that YOU will get to do the cool things. I see some of those bullies on the computer and my life is so much cooler than theirs."

Out of the mouths of babes. OMG, I needed that right now. They will never know how much that meant to me.
