Not long to go now! The final version of the timetable for our Summer Gathering 2024 is now available. This is current as of 20/06/24, if you have downloaded a copy before this, it will no longer be accurate.

We have had someone drop out from the textiles tent, but have added in workshops from Jane and Seggy.

Jane will be running a session entitled: Make your own cleaning products. "Jane will show how to make environmentally friendly cleaning products using everyday ingredients."

Seggy will be running a session entitled: DIY solar power projects to build at home. "Seggy will go through a number of simple projects that the attendees can build at home. These will range from Solar powered fountains and cooling fans, to Solar lights in jam jars to portable power packs for camping."

The Music line-up for Radical Bakers Harvest Camp 2024! We are really pleased to announce that we have just confirmed bookings with Lunabarge, My Mate Dave and Witan Tree.

Thursday
21:00 Lunabarge – a double-stomping, energetic, uplifting, indie-folk duo. They are armed with banjo, guitar, ukulele, 2 voices and 2 stomp boxes. They like to find the little things in life that make it worth living and encapsulate them in their catchy original songs.

22:30 My Mate Dave are an acoustic female fronted four piece, combining upcycled folk, vaudeville, pop and close harmony. They play banjo, uke, fiddle and flute with four voices. Their music is mostly self-written and they draw influences from gypsy folk to 70’s glam rock and back again, with a nod to balladeers and minstrels of times past on the way. The result is an interesting mix of original music, with a few reworked familiar songs, some as acapella pieces with four part harmony.

Radical Bakers Summer Gathering Details and tickets for Radical Bakers Summer Gathering, our main weekend camping event held at Crabapple Community in Shropshire.

This year we have Fi Oberon organising our beautiful Textiles Tent, with a full program of workshops:

Fi Oberon – Cordage, Bookbinding, Nature Weaving. Peg Looming
Nic Miners – Knitting for beginners and intermediates.
Sarah Bracken – Felting: Felt Necklaces and Felt Book Covers.
Karen Doe – Fabric Flowers.
Lisa Moomin – The Art of Crochet with guided instruction from the Moomin-Mama.
Sophie DePas – Needlepoint: Learn the basics of needlepoint and create your own intricate designs.
Cat Anson – Darning: Fed up with holey socks and woolies? Come learn how to mend them with Darning.
Stella Berg – Spinning and Dyeing: Stella will be teaching us how to spin Yarn and to dye it with natural dyes from local plants.

A full timetable of all the workshops will be published long before the event so you can plan your weekend. All the workshops are included in the ticket price and are on a first-come, first served basis, with numbers being set by the workshop provider. Some things have limited places and these can be booked by speaking to the workshop leader on the Thursday or Friday. As usual, we advise people who want places on popular courses like Hamilton's Basket Weaving or Mike Craig's Green Woodworking to get here on the Thursday.

The Gathering Introduction is on Thursday at 8pm. This is where we introduce you to key members of the crew, set the boundaries of the event and where workshop providers stand up, introduce themselves and say a few words about what they will be doing. This session will be short and sweet and will be followed by music from Beggar's Buttons. We really like people to make it to this chance to meet everyone!

We've booked the first lot of Bands for our Radical Bakers Harvest Camp 2024!!! The Whiskey River (Cajun, Zydeco, Americana) Band headline Saturday night with support from The Refreshers (Ska and 80s) and Johnny Kowalski (Sexy Weirdness) is playing the Friday. On the Sunday we have a cowboy comedy set from The Long Wrangler and then the RB Cabaret and Sing-along. All on the Green Dragon Solar Stage. Many more bands to be announced before September. Green Woodworking with Mike Craig - Radical Bakers Gathering Mike Craig gives us a general introduction to the basic skills used in green woodwork. He will encourage you to see the woodland ecology through a woodsmith’s eyes. Tree selection and sustainable timber use will be discussed as will the connections between green woodwork...

Our morning Yoga sessions at Radical Bakers Summer Gathering 2024 will be lead by Laura from Flowertwist Fitness. These sessions start at 8am and are the perfect way to start your day of focused activities and communal fun!

Leo Brazil will be back again running his Birds and Beasts Animal Themed Pub Quiz to start off Saturday nights entertainment on the Green Dragon Solar Stage, followed by dancing and music from Tarantism. Leo will also be playing an acoustic set to warm things up for The Weirdstrings Not-A-Ceilidh on the Friday night.

Pippa Chapman from Those Plant People will be running a session: Introduction to Permaculture and also one on Forest Gardening for back gardens.

In addition to her Spinning Yarn and Natural Dyeing sessions, Stella Berg has offered a talk on "Keeping your skeleton healthy".

We have Kirstin running a Knots workshop and leading a Tree Walk around the biodiverse grounds at Crabapple, Hamilton is back running his popular Basket Weaving workshop, Dave will be leading a session on basic Auto-Mechanics and Nicola will be teaching us Natural Building methods including getting hands-on with some Cob.
