COORDINATING CONFERENCE FOR NARCOTIC DETECTION DOG HANDLERS TRAINING IN ILOILO PROVINCE
On April 2, 2024, PDEA VI led by Acting Regional Director Melvin Suarez Estoque attended the 1st Coordinating Conference for Narcotic Detection Dog (NDD) Handlers Training at the Iloilo Provincial Police Office in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo City.
The Iloilo Police Provincial Office, under the leadership of PCOL RONALDO PALOMO, is preparing to train at least 25 Handlers and 25 NDDs for deployment in coastal cities/municipalities and other high-risk areas within Iloilo Province.
The PNP has requested the provision of at least two (2) trainers from PDEA VI, and they will shoulder the board, lodging, and other incidental expenses for the trainers.
To facilitate this, PDEA VI will coordinate with the PDEA National Office for guidance and support.
Director Estoque recommended incorporating the PDEA Guidelines on NDD donation to ensure the standard and quality of NDDs that will be procured and trained. It was also suggested that prospective dogs undergo evaluation by PDEA prior to procurement.

PDEA DEBUNKS FAKE OPERATIONAL DOCUMENTS
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) debunks the false operational documents currently in circulation in social media.
Two pictures of documents were posted online; an Authority to Operate and a Pre-Operation Report, both dated March 11, 2012. PDEA ran a check through its Plans and Operations Reports Management Information System or PORMIS and found that no such operation was logged on said date. A critical feature of PORMIS is that one cannot insert or tamper with recorded operations. All pre-operation documents are serialized and recorded in this database. This ensures the system's integrity and negates any doubt on the data the system contains.
In an age where Artificial Intelligence can generate realistic fake videos, spurious documents and fantastic claims at having 'insider information', the public is cautioned to be more careful in believing such fake news.
