Caek and Minko

Wooo, BOI! We had one song we weren’t sure was going to make the cut. Then yesterday Caek went nuts on it and now it’s like the best track!

Another one from back in the daaaay. July 2017. The day we took off for a few months around the country, landing in Portland, for a short while until realizing we needed to come back East to continue our musical journey together. “Me and You” (playing on this post) the first single we released together as Caek and Minko. (GO AHEAD AND TAKE A LISTEN AND SHARE IT!) We were still figuring out our sound and dynamic, and we’re super proud of it. These next songs with explode your pants though. Also, I’ve never posted a photo of myself when I chopped my hair. I cried for a week and then impatiently waited for it to grow out again.

Also Taji is basically a genius with this drawing, right? Oh, just me? Oh everyone thinks their own kid is a genius? But I heard the more defiant they are, the smarter they are? Oh. So he’s just fu***ng with me?

yup pretty sure there’s lipstick on my chin. Playing at Basta tonight with ! Come on down 5:30- 8:30! Also how does anyone take selfies? Think I should post the throwaways in our story? They’re pretty comical.

Minko: everyone left me alone in the studio to do what I do best. Write weird stuff and pretend like it’s normal.

What did you all think of Barbie? I saw it twice and am still feeling it all. Plus the music was amazing.

How do we start a musician’s strike? 🙄

I’m going to tell you a little bit of a story. It’s not a particularly important story, in terms of the world, but important to us.

We love music. We love making music. We found each other through music, and found an even greater love of music through creating together. But it’s not an easy road to take. The world doesn’t create clear flat roads to success as an artist, as any creative. It’s rocky and uphill. Throw having a kid into the mix and you’ve got mountains in your way at times.

With a lot of work, persistence, some loss, a lot of luck, and some naïveté maybe, we’ve made it here: In a bunch of debt, living in a beautiful home built with Mike’s hands, with a fiercely independent and creative, silly 4 year old, living on benefits and side jobs, STILL 👏 MAKING👏MUSIC👏!

Every single day, we talk to each other about our fears and dreams, asking each other the same questions over again: “what are we doing?”, “is our music good enough?”, “do we have a chance at this?”, “are we enough?”. The answers aren’t always clear, but we’re still here, and proud of everything we’ve done so far.

Confidence is a funny thing. I know any single creative person goes through these same thoughts every day too. We’re terrible and amazing all at the same time! We can’t live up to anyone else, and better than everyone. But, I think it doesn’t matter what your whacked out mind is doing as long as you keep coming back to thinking you’re amazing, and that is what keeps you going. RESILIENCE!

We’ve got a lot of trust in the universe that everything we’re doing is going to be worth it. There’s a lot of plans, and so much to show you all. I don’t know if anyone is reading this, but thank you for sticking around, and stay tuned.

Yesterday I wrote the single best lyrical line of my life for a song of ours. Luckily, no one cares too much about lyrics…

Last night we made a last minute decision to go swimming in the lake down the street. We all swam a few minutes to the middle where there’s an island we’d never been to (Taji in his life vest). We walked onto the island and found a rope swing. Best thing to happen this summer yet!

Also, we got 4 songs written this week, and now we have a sh*tload of songs for you. What’s a sh*tload? Idk

I just compared my teeth to my 4 year old’s teeth. The results are horrifying. Anybody know a good whitener?! 😭😭😭

What’s the best summer sandwich? Can you pair it with a song?
