With a broad background in music, Marteinn Sindri delivers rich lyrics through tightly knit folk and pop oriented compositions. Having trained in philosophy and as a classical pianist, well versed both in jazz music and pop, he prepares his first full length album in collaboration with musician and guitarist Daníel Friðrik Böðvarsson. The first song of the album, Spring Comes Late Somtimes, was re
leased earlier this year and since Marteinn has appeared regularly, from playing solo performances to recruiting his two sisters, Katrín and Valgerður, and more recently supported by a full band. The forthcoming album, set for release next year, features a breadth of musical influences and affiliations invested in Marteinn’s songwriting, elaborated in creative collaboration with exceptional musicians such as Albert Finnbogason, Bergur Þórisson, Gyða Valtýsdóttir, Magnús Trygvason Eliasen, Óskar Kjartansson, Óttar Sæmundsen, and Shahzad Ishmaily,
„Marteinn’s compositions are minimal and magical, he looks to the roots of folk-music and hymns and influences from the British singer/songwriter Nick Drake are discernible, as well as some of Drake’s American counterparts in both recent and remote past. Marteinn Sindri writes his texts with a personal voice and harvests a broad field of inspiration. His compositions are sincere and his performances are supported by exceptional musicians.” - Jónatan Garðarson
