Sip N Paint with BZ Seniors & Friends was pure magic! Novice artists became maestros in just two hours. Who knew so many hidden Picassos lived among us? Laughter, camaraderie, and tasty treats made for an afternoon to remember. A huge thank you for some of BZ's young adults Live After Five crew for setting up, helping through out and clean up!

Today is the day! Sip & Paint at 12 noon! Make sure you have registered as sitting is limited! You don't need to be an artist to participate!! Come enjoy some light refreshments and painting among friends!

We marked the beginning of a month long celebration of our Seniors, whose shoulders we stand on with a brunch hosted by Big Zion AME Zion Church Live After Five Young Adults. From decorations, to cooking, serving and cleaning all was done by them! They even asked our guests to leave a note with inspiring words for the next generation! A special thank you to Ms. Lauren Otis with Mercy LIFE of Alabama for her wonderful and very informative presentation that many of our guests took advantage of. Stay tuned for our next event!

Big Zion AME Zion Church is so proud of Kandas TheKoach Coates who is now the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Coastal Alabama North Community College! A testament that good things come to those who wait on the Lord! And no, she's not leaving Big Zion and yes she is still one half of our dynamic visual tech team!

Big Zion AME Zion Church is very proud to announce Ms. Joy Love, daughter of Erica Johnson & Chris Love, granddaughter of Mr. IV & Jennifer Love as the esteemed recipient of the 2024 Emrich C. Kenny Jr Scholarship for her outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. Joy's dedication to her studies and her community is a testament to her strong work ethic and passion for success. The Kenney family is both honored and delighted to award her this scholarship, and we have no doubt that she will continue to excel and make a meaningful impact in the world.

Last Sunday, Big Zion AME Zion Church celebrated along with the Clarence Willis Senior Usher Board as gatekeepers in God's House with their theme of "A Chorus of Praise". We thank all of those who attended and celebrated with us!

What do you get when you mix some of Big Zion AME Zion Church young adults, friends and breakfast? You get "Brunchin with Big Zion's Live After Five Young Adults at The Toasted Yolk Cafe . Led by Ms. Mar Trisse who has done 2 phenomenal events after being given the charge by our pastor, Dr. Titus Thorn to create events where our young adults and young at heart can get together to chill, relax, laugh and let loose outside of the church walls. They even played "Gettin to Know BZ" Bingo! From what we've been told there was a lot of laughter! It's ministry with a side of bacon!!

You know that beeping sound in your house? It's probably the smoke alarm! When was the last time you checked on it and changed the batteries?? Don't have any smoke alarms? Well you're in luck! The Mobile Fire-Rescue is offering FREE smoke alarms!!

As we continue in our Phase 2 of Big Zion AME Zion Church Summer Makeover, we want to thank Mobile Glass, LLC for replacing more than sixty, 43 year old windows in our church! They were quick, professional and did we mention quick??! It took them 2 days to get all of these done!!

The business session of the Mobile District of the AME Zion Church concluded at midday with all reports presented! PE Thorn was pleased with the churches active roles in their communities and charged them with continuing their work!

Big Zion AME Zion Church wants to thank Hembree Heating & Air Conditioning for the awesome work they did in our church! They replaced a more than 50 year old unit with two 20 ton Carrier Air Conditioner HVAC units! They were the only company in the city that could guarantee and actually do the work! Mr. Don Hembree personally checked on the progress almost daily and his employees were respectful and worked diligently to get the air working! They even worked from 9am to past midnight one day! This is phase 1 of our summer makeover! If you need a great, affordable and professional company for your HVAC needs, definitely call them.

Dating back to the mid-1800s, this church has just a few years on us 😉.

Junerosity continues at Big Zion AME Zion Church with a pop up lunch with Cafe 112!!! As we, along with some special guests from the Rock Hill District AME Zion served the unhoused in downtown Mobile some grilled food and sides

We continue in our path of "Junerosity" for the month of June as we give to two non profit organizations Grind & Pour Culture Festival Raven Dedaux and United Way of Southwest Alabama Ms. Kimberly Bell. You too can join by giving to either of these organizers OR a group/organization or individual of your choice! Make it intentional and from the heart!!!
