Based on the illustrations in the image herein, you will observe that the approximate total duration of Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ) strikes between 1993 and 9 May 2022 is 266 weeks.
In Nigeria, 30 weeks make a full academic year. Therefore, a total of 266 weeks of strike approximates to 9 academic sessions.
In effect, between 1993 and 9 May 2022 the Nigerian public university system lost 9 academic years, having experienced ASUU strikes on 22 occasions in 29 years.
How much longer should this last before the authorities responsible cut the needless and irresponsible waste?
