Hooked on Yarn: Weaving magic with my crochet hook, one stitch at a time🧶✨

22/07/2024

I've messaged people who've expressed an interest in any of the classes, but fb won't let us message you from a business page (i.e. Crochet Kelly) until you've contacted us first (to do with anti spamming out hundreds of messages ;-) ), so the messages have come from my personal fb account (Catherine Kelly).

Please feel free to respond by messaging Crochet Kelly, that way both Anna and I can see and respond to your messages :-)

Thanks!

Lovely chats and atmosphere on the classes today 🥰
Hope you all enjoyed yourselves, we enjoyed having you.

Drop us a message or post in our private group if you have any questions and we'll be happy to help.

Anna will do videos of the stitches you learned today and post them in the group for you to access whenever you like

And you can find dates so far and booking details for classes 2 & 3 in there too :-)

Hope to see you again soon!

New dates for Beginners 1 crochet classes -

Sunday 28th July 10:00am - 1:00pm
Monday 29th July 2:00 - 5:00pm

£30 pp
Please book here :-)

(Please note: Places are limited and are allocated on a first paid, first served basis through the booking website below.
We are charged a transaction fee for each booking and we're also finding the class is taking an hour longer than we originally anticipated, so it has been necessary to put the price up from the original amount, to cover these extra costs)

(All standalone classes, you only need to book one date)

Payments and bookings:

Unfortunately, we have 5 people who said they wanted to come to the beginners' class tomorrow, from whom we took that booking in good faith and Anna has spent money on hooks and wool and I've made cupcakes - and now they've said they can't make it without giving us any notice or are not replying to messages

This isn't fair, as Anna (and I) are now out of pocket on costs - Anna bought hooks and wool expecting 10 people and I've made more cupcakes than I needed to

So moving forward, for new bookings, we will be using an event booking system on a website, for which we are charged, so that charge will be added to the cost of the class.

For anyone who's already attended a class and paid by bank transfer, we're quite happy to continue to take payments by bank transfer (without the website booking charge), with a time limit on how long we give for people to confirm their bookings that way. So if you pay by bank transfer within 48 hours of requesting a place, your booking will be confirmed and the basic price will be £25pp

After that time, and for bookings for Beginners 1, payment will be required through the event booking website and the basic price will be £26 pp. Unless/until payment has been made, those spaces will be available via the website for anyone to book

This is how it works when you book any event - your place/ticket is not yours until you've paid for it. It's not fair for us to spend out money on the equipment, etc. in good faith, and for Anna to be expecting a full class and pay Jean to help for those classes that are fully booked, only to find people pull out or stop responding at the last minute, making the class only half full

This also means other people haven't been able to book places as we turned them away because we thought the class was full (we don't have time to spend contacting them and they don't have time to respond, if we only find out the day before the class that these spaces aren't wanted). It also means that if we do manage to rebook those places at the last minute, and people who haven't paid do turn up on the day, we won't have space for them

We all have emergencies or illnesses and we're quite happy to try to accommodate these and move your booking to another class if needed - please just communicate with us and we'll be more than happy to help :-)

Thank you for understanding :-)

Due to non-payment, we potentially have a few places become available on tomorrow morning's beginners' crochet class (10:30am, £25).

Please let us know if you would like to be put on a last minute waiting list for this class, and we will confirm this evening.

Please note that payment for classes is required in advance, so that we know how many people to provide hooks, wool, cupcakes, etc. for. Payment confirms your booking and your place is not confirmed until you have paid.

We're flexible on holding a place for you for a bit, but please let us know if you'd no longer like that place at any point, as we can then offer it to other people who have expressed an interest who didn't manage to make the list for that class.

Thanks :-)

To build on the stitches learned in the first class (Making a rose), the second class Anna will show you how to start a project with a circle/magic ring and crochet these lovely stars to make a garland

£25 per person, including a 3.5mm hook, ball of yarn, drink and cupcake

Beginners' 2: Making a Star Garland
will run on
Saturday 25th May 10:30am and
Saturday 8th June 2:30pm
(both individual classes, you don't need to come to both of these dates)

These can also be made in green yarn and slipped up the stem of your rose from the first class to make leaves!

(It's preferable to have already attended Beginners' 1 class where Anna can give you specific help to learn the stitches, before attending the second class)

If you'd like to book on the first class to learn the stitches,
Beginners' 1: Making a Rose,
dates for this are
Sunday 26th May 10:30am
Saturday 8th June 10:30am

Drop us a message if you'd like to book any places :-)

Payment is required in advance to confirm your place, so that we know how many hooks, balls of wool and cupcakes to provide!

We still have spaces left for the second crochet class, making a star garland, on Sunday at 10:30 if anyone else who's done the first class would like to come along 🙂

This builds on the skills and stitches taught in the first class (making a rose), so is suitable for people who've done that class already

Let us know if you'd like to book any places, so we have enough cakes and wool (already have enough hooks 😉 )

£25 per person. This class is also running on Saturday 25th May at 10:30am.

Crochet and Knitting are good for you! 😍😘

They can help to reduce stress, reduce depression, may reduce or postpone dementia, boost self-esteem and confidence, increase brain activity, improve dexterity and hand-eye coordination, can help insomnia and increase social connections

Just a reminder to let us know if you'd like to come to the beginners' class on Saturday and that payment needs to be made in advance - or we might not have enough wool or cupcakes! ;-)

Hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you :-)

Let's craft 11/04/2024

Crochet Kelly is supporting Let's Craft :-)

A drink and cupcake is included in the cost of your place at a class, but we ask that an adult stays with any children under 13 (if they haven't also booked on the class). We're happy to provide a drink and cupcake to any supervising adults and just ask that you make a donation for these, which we will pass on to Let's Craft.

We raised £15 from the classes last weekend. Thank you

Next beginners' class:
Sunday 14th April, 10:30am

£25, including hook, wool, drink and cupcake.
Approx 2.5 hours (give or take)

You will learn how to start a project using chain stitch plus three other basic stitches, to create a rose to take home with you.
(Same project as the classes on 7th April)

Suitable for age 8+
(if someone is under 13, they would need to have an adult stay with them (adult wouldn't need to pay for the class unless they'd like to take part, but a donation would be appreciated to Anna's choice of charity if a supervising adult would like cake & drink 🙂)

Places must be booked and paid for in advance, thank you
