Rip the Runway 2014

, featuring designers and salons from the Southeast and the West Coast. Vohn Leon’s Models is presenting the event, in partnership with Roman Harper’s Hope 4*1 Foundation to benefit Habitat for Humanity. The event will be held at the USA Mitchell Center in Mobile on June 21, 2014. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the show will begin at 7:00 pm. Designers will include: Chy’Ann Clothing of Los Angeles; Passion Lilie of New Orleans; Pure Love of Mobile; online boutique Denim & Diamonds; and the debut of Loud Ink, a custom t-shirt design firm. Vohn Leon’s Models began in the fashion industry in 1985 and expanded over time, organizing runway shows for NBA players such as Antonio Lang and Grant Hill. The company rebranded in 1996 under the current name, and has donated over $10,000 to various organizations in the Mobile Area. Vohn Leon’s Models has provided talent to some of the world’s most notable companies, such as Coca-Cola, Visa and Caress Soap. Spring and summer fashion trends won’t be the only features tearing down the runway—a variety of hair salons will showcase the best of their artistry, using their hand-selected models, garments and music to complete their runway looks. Some of the featured salons include: The W Salon & Spa, Geometrix Salon, Tmac’s Hair Studio, D’Marks Styles by Amanda, Greg’s Professional Barber and Beauty Salon, Stylz by CC, Jamal Shelly of Crown U Beautiful Production, Raging Shears Salon and First Ladies DeElegance, all from the Gulf Coast area. The event will also feature a musical performance by R&B artist G Fiive DaPrince. Although it is about fashion and catwalks, the true objective of the event is to raise funds to donate to Habitat for Humanity, to build or rehabilitate homes in Mobile and surrounding areas as part of the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiatives. “ We wanted to partner with Habitat for Humanity as the beneficiary because of their Christian leadership, dedication and commitment to the community,” states Vohn Leon Keith, principle of Vohn Leon’s Models. “This effort is to contribute toward eliminating poverty housing in our city.”
