Meet Jenna! ✨ 🐾

Jenna is one of the Volunteer Coordinators. She helps specifically with staffing fundraising events and bartending events. She is the first point of contact for new volunteers and getting them into our system.

Fun Facts about Jenna:
🏡 She has been a realtor for 10 years!
🌎 Jenna has traveled to 24 different countries.
🐕 She has a rescue dog named Mila.
📺 New Girl & Friends have been watched endlessly in her house!

✨ 🐾 Jax’s Success Story 🐾 ✨

Jax’s story with Saskatoon Dog Rescue is one of patience, love, and the joy of finally finding a forever home. Arriving as a small puppy on April 3, 2023, Jax quickly captured the hearts of everyone she met. She spent over a year in foster care, waiting for that perfect family to come along.

During her time with us, Jax's sweet, sassy, and quirky personality shone brightly. Her playful spirit was evident at the dog park, where she loved to run fast and hard, displaying her boundless energy and joy for life. Yet, she was equally content cuddling on the couch, enjoying belly rubs and ear scratches.❣️

As Jax aged, some health issues, which turned out to be allergies, became apparent. With the dedicated care of her fosters, these issues were eventually resolved, allowing her true joyful nature to shine even more. 🌟

Despite the long wait, Jax never lost her zest for life. Her foster families provided her with love and stability, ensuring she was ready for her forever home. In July 2024, Jax’s journey took a beautiful turn when she was adopted by Monique, one of our dedicated volunteers. Monique, who already had another SDR alumni, Rey, welcomed Jax into her heart and home. 💗 🐕

Now, Jax is living her best life filled with outdoor adventures, cozy snuggles, and the companionship of a loving family. Jax’s story is a reminder of why we do what we do – giving dogs like her a second chance for a happy tail. 🐶 🏡

We are incredibly grateful to Monique and all our volunteers who make such happy endings possible. 😊

This sweet momma (and now her new babies) are stranded without a home after their owner passed away months ago. With nowhere to go, they've been porch surfing in this heat, desperately waiting for a safe place to call home.

Can you imagine how scared and lost they must feel? 😥 We've been trying to place them for a week now, but unfortunately, we've had no luck.

We need your help more than ever. Our rescue is facing an overwhelming number of requests to take in dogs, but we simply don't have enough foster homes to give these pups the care they desperately need. 🐶🙏

We know life gets busy, and sometimes it feels like there's no time to add another responsibility. But fostering a dog doesn't mean you're alone. We have an incredible network of volunteers ready to support you every step of the way:

🚗Transportation: We can help with dog transportation to adoption events and vet visits.
🐕Dog-Sitting: If you have plans or need a break, we can arrange dog-sitting.
🐾Extra Walks: If your foster dog needs extra exercise, we have volunteers who can help.
🐕‍🦺Training: We have partnered with amazing dog trainers to help you ensure you and your foster dog have the skills you need to be successful.

You’ll never be left to figure things out on your own. Please, take a moment to think about what it would mean to become a foster. Imagine giving a second chance to these sweet pups by simply opening your home and heart.

Meet our Foster of the Quarter, Debbie Altrogge! 👏 🎉

Debbie has fostered 7 dogs since joining our rescue just over a year ago. We have always noted Debbie's attentive and loving nature toward her fosters - and so has the public. We've had adopters comment on how helpful Debbie is in the adoption process and how thankful they are when she follows up to ensure everyone is settling in well (she has even provided photo albums of the pup's foster journey to the adopters!). 💓

We've also heard comments on how well-behaved and trained her fosters are. At our adoption and fundraising events, Debbie is extremely friendly, approachable, and professional - we hope you get the chance to meet her soon! 😊

💬 I’ve been with the SDR since April 2023.

➡️ Do you have any pets/fosters in your home?
💬 I have 3 dogs and 3 cats plus one foster pup right now.

➡️ What do you love about SDR?
💬 SDR is an amazing family: we all love dogs, the board members are VERY supportive in every way and the community is so kind. I enjoy meeting the fosters and volunteers at all the events as much as I enjoy meeting all the pups.

➡️ What is a fun/interesting fact about you?
💬 I’m on my 3rd career!! 26 years of policing, 4 years as an RMT and now I work in a vet clinic. Never limit yourself … don’t be afraid to try new things!!

At Saskatoon Dog Rescue, our adoption process is designed to ensure that our furry friends find the best possible match with their new families. If you're looking into adopting a dog, consider our adoptions process:

1️⃣: View Adoptable Dogs
The first step in your adoption journey is to visit our website and check out the dogs currently available for adoption. Each dog has a dedicated profile with pictures and detailed information about their personality, age, and any special needs they might have. This is your opportunity to find a dog that fits well with your lifestyle and preferences. 🐶 ✨

2️⃣: Submit Your Application
Once you've found a dog (or dogs) you're interested in, it's time to submit your application online. 💻 ✏️
❗TIP: Be sure to include the names of any second choice dogs in your application. This increases your chances of finding a match if your first choice is no longer available.

3️⃣: Be Patient (& Check Your Email)
After submitting your application, patience is key. We aim to contact the first applicant within 3 days. Keep an eye on your email for our response. If the first applicant falls through, we may reach out to you later, so stay hopeful! 📧 👀

4️⃣: Complete a Home Check
If your application is selected, we will send you instructions to complete a virtual home check. This step is crucial to ensure that your home is a safe and suitable environment for the dog you wish to adopt. 🏡 ✅

5️⃣: Schedule a Meet & Greet
Next, it’s time to arrange a meet and greet. We encourage you to bring all family members and any other pets you have to ensure that everyone gets along well. 🐕 👪

6️⃣: Sign Your Adoption Contract
Once everything is in place, and you've decided to move forward with the adoption, you'll need to sign the adoption contract. After the paperwork is done, you can arrange a time to pick up your new furry friend and take them to their forever home! 🏘️ 🐾
