Powell River Kings rykers momma here I was fortunate enough to make a trip home this weekend and brought this bad boy back for Ryker he is unbelievably excited, and after a rough night last night from what I’ve heard it was just what was needed 💜💜💜

Had an incident with his catheter last night, he was extremely uncomfortable and the solution was a flushing and change of the outside tubing etc, which was pretty traumatic for him but thankfully it got sorted without having to go into the IR suite and be put under for an internal change too.

Rykers teacher from JT came today, and he got to see the imposter who’s been doing his work in class “Stryker”
Thanks for such a wonderful visit, gifts and for all your support through this! He loved seeing you!

20/03/2024

Had a rough night with the nightmares, as well as pain as they’ve weaned him off the gabapentin, we were up almost every hr from 12-8 😞

20/03/2024

Looks like his first catheter change is next week, and within another week he will be transferred to the Sunny hill rehab centre on campus here at bc children’s 💜

Stitches are out, he had a rough and very hangry morning while waiting for his procedure but all in all it went well. He tried to fight the sleep mask, unless i was the one holding it, and rubbing his hair. Holding it together during that wasn’t easy but i managed.
Plastics told me that we need to keep an eye on the area over his elbow, as it is at risk for scar shortening (when scars shrink as they heal) as it could impact his range of motion severely enough to require more surgery.
They said this is fairly common concern in the area, topped with the fact that the wound was so deep you could see all tendons and bone. More scar tissue, more risk of shortening.

Tomorrow Ryker will be put under for stitch removal on his arm and leg, he is IV free at this point and pain is managed 😭😭
He’s still got a long recovery ahead with his pelvic injury, couple other small fractures as well as his super p***c catheter which will be around for 6-9 months depending on healing etc.
This boy is incredibly strong and so full of life, I am in awe of him and extremely grateful to be his mama 💜💜

Today was filled with love and laughter, funny faces and Lego 💜💜
Some hiccups today but overall a good day 💜

Hey everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to address some rumors that have been circulating about Ryker's Road to Recovery page. Some have suggested that it's actually Ryker's dad's girlfriend who's running the page, and people who think she is his actual mom even but I want to set the record straight.

As Ryker's mother, I am the one behind every post, every update, and every message shared on this page. I've been by Ryker's side 24/7, tirelessly supporting him through every step of his recovery journey.

Being here in the hospital 24/7 with Ryker has been the most challenging and yet the most rewarding experience of my life. Every moment, every small improvement, fills my heart with hope and gratitude.
I miss my husband, my daughter winter and my son Bellamy fiercely, but being by Rykers side is the most important place for me to be right now.

So please, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me directly. Ryker's recovery is our top priority, and I'm committed to keeping you all informed every step of the way.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

Warmest regards,
Aurian Parsons-Saari (Ryker's Mom)

I shouldn’t have to defend myself, or explain things but I am sick of getting messages. I did not run over my own son, it wasn’t even my week with him when it happened, it however was an extended family member. But it was not myself, my husband, rykers dad or his dad’s gf.
The audacity to message a mother or any parent experiencing one of the most traumatic and terrifying moments of their life with stuff like
“So it’s a ran over your own dog moment hey” is disgusting!

Rehab centre just came and talked to me. They said typically they see kids with these injuries back home in 1-2 months but it’s too early to tell, he may have more mobility than expected after this, but we still have our 6 ish week stint here on the acute side before we can start the rehab process.
Little man is in for a long recovery but he’s a strong little monster that survived something that could have been catastrophic, and he will get through this too ❤️
Mommas got all the mental health professionals on board for his support as well so he can be supported in every way possible for the journey ahead ❤️

We had a small hiccup last night but the rescue meds planned for overwhelming nerve pain, and anxiety worked like a charm. So what would have normally been a 2 hour fight was a matter of half an hr.
Then he slept like a log minus a nightmare.
He is understandably fed up with people in and out of his room, and getting a lil aggravated with it. But his sense of humour is back in full force, lots of laughs and love to be had.

10/03/2024

Upped his nerve pain meds yesterday and minus getting up for the day at 3 am he had a great night!
Hopefully this trend continues

Spoke too soon 😞 looks like we are in for another rough one. I wish they could just magically find what’s gonna work for him. Having to pin him down so he doesn’t hurt his pelvis more is heartbreaking 😞

09/03/2024

Med Change up today seems to be working! He’s significantly calmer and more comfortable tonight! Here’s hoping he can get some decent rest for his recovery ❤️

08/03/2024

We did a drawing tutorial today, and he aced it!

08/03/2024

Good morning everyone, we had another really rough night and this morning has been a little on the rougher side as well, he’s currently playing with Lego sets and just trying to stay as relaxed as possible.

08/03/2024

Ryker update : He is doing okay today, asserting his demands and needs like a champ, probably be here in the acute surgical wing for a minimum of 6-8 weeks (until the pelvis heals) then moved over to the rehabilitation wing for unknown amount of time

07/03/2024

Was a long and rough night for us both, thankfully he’s still currently soundly asleep getting the rest he needs 🖤

07/03/2024

Little bit of pain in his leg today, but otherwise he’s doing okay. He had a good day, finished a Lego set, played with some cars. Hopefully he gets another full nights rest as well

06/03/2024

Ryker was able to sleep through the night! The new medication plan seems to be doing wonders for him! ❤️❤️

06/03/2024

Ryker is sound asleep, hoping tonight is better for him.

I just wanna reach out to any first responders, flight team, nurses, doctors etc that have been involved in Rykers care and say that we are beyond grateful for everything you’ve done for my son, he would not be here without the dedication and care that’s been given to him. It is something I could never repay, knowing he will be okay regardless of his long recovery journey ahead he will be okay 🖤🖤

06/03/2024

Ryker was a champion through his first bandage changes! He stayed distracted with a new Lego set to build ❤️

05/03/2024

Ryker had a rough night, but we have a plan to help him stay comfortable moving forward ❤️ he’s currently resting, I’ll show him the jokes and comments of support soon

05/03/2024

I just wanna say from the bottom of my heart how grateful we are for the community that’s rallied around Ryker, we have a long journey ahead, but the support and encouragement from you guys is absolutely astonishing and so appreciated.
Told Ryker today he’s essentially famous at this point and all he could do was smile from ear to ear.

Would love any comments of support or jokes or anything put below that I can read to him in the morning ❤️❤️

05/03/2024

We are slowly but surely creating a space in which he feels more at home and comfortable as much as he can in the clinical setting ❤️

Follow along for accurate updates about Ryker and his journey 🖤 -Aurian
