Dear Black Rose Ball supporters,
Next year I am mixing things up a bit. I have always wanted to hold a Black Rose Ball on All Hallows' Eve - the best evening of the year!
Join me in the old and very elegant, Hospitium York Venues, in the Museum Gardens, in York, on Friday 31 October 2025.
York is always a gorgeous city but especially so over Halloween. The city also offers a lot of exciting Halloween activities - including the York Ghost Merchants Ghost Week - so it is worth coming for a few days. I would recommend reserving accommodation soon to have a good choice of options in advance.
More information will be shared on the socials so keep an eye out for details, and for the ticket release date.
I hope to welcome you all to the Black Rose Ball again next year; but until then enjoy the spooky season.
Estelle
Running the whole DJ side of things at the ball again is the fabulous and very talented DJ Victoria Fenbane – and right behind her, is the fantastic DJ Doktor Joy!
Victoria Fenbane - DJ has 25 years of DJ experience in the genres of goth, EBM, industrial and darkwave. Past residencies include Nightmare (Nottingham) and Slimelight (London). She has guest DJed internationally for many years including Infest and Resistanz Festivals (UK), Death Guild (San Francisco), Dark Infection (Munich) and many more! In 2017 she founded Exit the Grey, a London club night focusing on electronic dark music but she still has a passion for guitar based goth too.
Doktor Joy - DJ has been a bit of a goth since 1987; and DJ-ing Goth and Electro since 1989. Resident at Oxford's Intrusion club since 2001 and regular guest DJ across the UK (e.g. Slimelight, Antichrist, Exit the Grey, Reptile, Fiendish). A big fan of the goth classics (be warned!) but always seeking new music. Also known to have a soft spot for cats, teal hair and a nice shirt.
There will be a music request thread on Facebook the day before the ball. All the DJs also take requests in the evening. They blend requests and their own choices throughout the evening.

Unexpected Infest news. The festival is moving to the second city of Exit the Grey. My tickets and accommodation are already booked for this exciting 2025 version.
Hey Infest fans!
We hope you’re having a stellar time at Infest 2024!
Planning has already started on the next edition of Infest, which will be the 25th FULL edition of Infest (25 in 25!). There are going to be some important changes for various reasons, which we shall try to explain. Read on:
We are moving to Manchester
Next year Bradford is the UK City of Culture, and unfortunately we believe Infest simply won’t work. We believe the main effect of City of Culture will be that accommodation will be unavailable, or unaffordable in sufficient quantity.
Two day event
We know that for many people money is tight, so in a concerted attempt to keep your costs down, we are planning for Infest ‘25 to become a 2 day event, meaning less hotel nights, but with just as many live acts.
Friday and Saturday format
We will move to a Friday night and Saturday all-day format. Travel home on Sunday. This is partly due to the event taking place one week earlier in 2025. That means Industrial Summer Camp will be moving to:
15th and 16th August 2025
The August Bank Holiday in Manchester is Pride weekend (Sat 23rd Aug in 2025), which makes accommodation very expensive and scarce, so we will be moving one week earlier to keep your costs down.
Same high quality live music
We love the social side of Infest over the long weekend which we are all used to, but the live acts and music has always been and will remain the driving force for us. The reduction of the event by a day will not mean a reduction in the quality or quantity of live acts.
Infest 25 will be a multi-stage event, all under one roof
We have had a great 24 live (+1 hybrid) years in Bradford, and we’re not ruling out coming back one day, but it's time to move on.
We hope you are excited by our news as much as we are, and we hope to see you all at Industrial Summer Camp 25 in Manchester.

I'm still alive. Just hiding with my cat...
Tonight. I only have a booking lined up for September after today, so if you're desperate for my style of synthpop, futurepop etc, get yourselves to Camden from 7pm
I'll be playing tunes in Bristol tonight. Looking forward to doing a set of darkwave/coldwave or whatever modern goth music is called these days.
I'm hoping to do more 'goth' sets in future so get in contact if you need a DJ.
(Still available for futurepop/synthpop too...)
Tonight in Bristol!
With tunes provided by excellent Alastair Power and Victoria Fenbane (plus a mini-set from me) 🖤 Come and dance!
All ball ticket holders have been sent information on how to book on to the fabulous tours run by York's premier Spookologists, Dorian & Dede Deathly from The Deathly Dark Tours. Join them for a truly unique experience: ghost stories, told live from the depths of York Cemetery!
The Deathlies will be sharing four completely new and unique ghost stories from the grounds of the Victorian cemetery; so even if you have been on this tour before, it will not be the same experience.
Check your inbox for the ticket link and full information.

I have been listening to more 'guitar based' music recently. I have loved White Lies since they first emerged in 2008. Farewell to the Fairground reflects my current mood.
The lights still in our eyes
We're leaving this whole fairground behind
It's a dream that's going cold
Circus never dies
The act forever haunts these skies
I know we cannot stay
Farewell to the Fairground
These rides aren't working anymore
Goodbye to this dead town
Until the ice begins to thaw
This place used to gleam
I see it in my hopeful dreams
Now I had to get away
We move towards the stars
And all that we touch becomes ours
Lets keep warm till it's day

This Sunday I will be DJing the closing party of Resistanz Festival 2024 with Emma from Promenade Cinema. We'll be playing synthpop and associated electronic delights.
I'm also looking forward to catching ULTRA SUNN and for all the emptiness live earlier in the evening.
