You’re likely already aware that the Virginia Department of Education’s newly proposed anti-trans model policies received a massive amount of feedback during the public comment period, which ended on October 27th. In response to this influx of comments, the VDOE implemented a 30-day delay period to review the feedback they received. As of November 26th, those 30 days have passed.

You may be wondering about the current status of the new guidance document. Like you, we have been anxiously awaiting the release and implementation of these policies, as they would have drastic negative effects on transgender and nonbinary students throughout Virginia. We want to make clear that, as of this moment, the new model policies have not yet been finalized or released. The VDOE is still reviewing the 72,000 comments that were submitted.

As soon as these policies are finalized, Equality Virginia will be evaluating any changes made to the original draft and providing more information as soon as we can. We will also officially launch our school board campaign, which will include trainings and resources for folks who are mobilizing against these new policies at the local level.

In the meantime, please sign up for our Safe Schools Action Network at https://bit.ly/SSAN_signup to receive more detailed information about the campaign when it begins, as well as future action opportunities.

Every parent hopes our laws will ensure our children’s safety, protection, and freedom. But Governor Youngkin and the Virginia Department of Education are rejecting those values and advancing a policy that targets transgender and non-binary youth for bullying and mistreatment just because of who they are. Now, let’s take action together – we have 30 days to make our voices heard during the public comment period. Please share your strong opposition to the proposed anti-LGBTQ policy and tell lawmakers that ! ▶️▶️▶️ https://bit.ly/EQVAguide

An invitation to the virtual world premiere of this amazing upcoming film.

Billy Porter’s directorial debut, ANYTHING’S POSSIBLE, is a delightfully modern Gen Z coming-of-age story that follows Kelsa, a confident high school girl who is trans, as she navigates through senior year. When her classmate Khal gets a crush on her, he musters up the courage to ask her out, despite the drama he knows it could cause. What transpires is a romance that showcases the joy, tenderness, and pain of young love.

There is so much to celebrate about this film, at a time when we must celebrate trans youth more than ever. So the filmmakers are making the film’s red carpet premiere accessible to LGBTQ+ people and the people who love them--and we hope you will join us! Understanding the limitations of COVID, and the anti-youth, anti-family legislation threatening our safe spaces, this event is free, virtual, and accessible for folks from the safety of their own homes, or together at gatherings with friends.

Register to join by midnight, Tuesday July 12th, at [tinyurl.com/APpremiere](https://tinyurl.com/APpremiere?fbclid=IwAR03QZ9Nt2Nk7SToA5-VwPO97qfd_vKBB2kFFAeXsTBVLukotyhE4g9SFBI).

Once registered, you will receive an exclusive link to view the celebrity red carpet, a free concert, and the film. Watch at home or with a group any time between July 15-17.

The 2022 General Assembly is in full swing and we need you to ensure that Virginia remains safe for LGBTQ people and their families.

Unfortunately, several bills have been introduced that would put transgender youth in harm's way and that would weaken our hard-fought nondiscrimination protections in the Virginia Values Act. But it's not just bad bills that we're fighting against - there are also a handful of bills that we're fighting for - ones that would help to protect LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness and that would remove the ban on marriage equality from our state constitution.

We need your help. We need you to contact your legislators and ask them to stand with us. Click the link below to let them know which bills to support and which bills to oppose. Together, we can move LGBTQ equality forward, not backward.

If you need photos of your trans loved one edited to reflect their true authentic self, Affirming Edits will be taking orders in the new year.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been deliberately keeping a low profile since my post first went viral. I filled up all my bookings until Christmas very quickly and although I’ve tried my best to fit extra people in where I could, I know their are many that I wasn’t able to get back to. So my sincere apologies to the people I wasn’t able to fit in.

The last of my Christmas orders were sent out today so after the break I’ll be open again for new bookings. I’m also planning to extend my services in the new year to include edits for older teenagers and adults.

Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
