Another nice bit of ink for the Garden Club of Minneapolis (GCM) from the suburban Sun Sailor newspapers. The club recently had our progressive pot luck in the gardens of Pat Kessler and Lynn Messman. You can tour gardens like this too if you are a member of the GCM. The Garden Club of Minneapolis (formerly the Men’s and Women’s Garden Club of Minneapolis) will display a vignette at the U of MN Landscape Arboretum’s upcoming Spring Flower Show. The display will show our Club’s history partnering with the Arboretum over the years. It features a set of window boxes of green and flowering plants with timeline placards indicating significant historical club events. Some of the significant historical events:
· In 1958—1976, Club member Dr. Leon Snyder served as the first director of the Arboretum
· All Arboretum directors have been members of our Club, including new Director Andrew Gapinski
· Many Club members have been and/or currently volunteer at the Arboretum
· For over 30 years, the Arboretum and our Club have co-hosted an annual exhibit of prize-winning flowers, vegetables, and horticultural photos each August.
Be sure to stop by the display in the Oswald Visitor Center. General ticketing admissions to the Arboretum includes the 2024 Spring Flower Show, February 8—March 10. For Arboretum admission tickets, go to https://arb.umn.edu/Tickets

Here is a link to his obituary which appeared in today's StarTribune https://tinyurl.com/ycrd4ray
Obituary for Robert 'Dr. Bob' Olson Olson, Robert "Dr. Bob" of Minneapolis, passed away on September 15, 2022.The youngest of three sons, Bob's life course was set from birth. Very sad news. I received a text yesterday from Bob Olson’s daughter telling me that he had passed away just before midnight on September 14. You may know he fought a long battle with cancer. A few weeks ago he saw the current treatment was not working and stopped it. He was receiving home hospice care and his two daughters and their families were home with him. I’ll pass along information about services as I learn about them, but it's not likely to happen until spring.
We share with our community…
