One of the things I love about creating artwork is that you can take a normal everyday scene and interpret it in a way that conveys an emotion or feeling.
buildings, or as in the case of my venice film noir series, I want to convey the utter contrast of modern Venice through the play of light and shadow. I want to relive the stillness of nighttime in Venice, the utter quiet as you walk through the cobblestone streets or stare up at the moon. The buildings envelope you and yet there is no fear. Just a sense of camaraderie with the lives that have lived there before you. Alternately, sometimes I choose to enhance images with textures and tonal filters to strip away the hardness of everyday life and view the scene with a childlike dreaminess where everything is light and airy and filled with possibilities. I love these images because they make me feel like anything is possible. They remind me that there is beauty in everything and everyone if we only look for it. I also love to embrace the wonder of travel in my photography. I’m fascinated with Europe, the style, the history, the beauty in everyday scenes like a street corner. Only in Europe can they make streetlights look beautiful! The images in my shop are all special to me because of the memories they invoke - moments spent exploring new places, discovering new foods, laughing with friends, even a surprise honeymoon destination (see if you can find which image mentions my honeymoon in its description) - they are constant reminders to take a moment away from the daily grind to refresh and get a new perspective on the world. It’s full of possibilities if we only look for them.
