We learned at ~32 wksđ¤°đťthat baby was butt down (after he'd been head down for quite a while). I increased the amount of techniques I was already doing, had a Chiropractor do adjustments, did a round of targeted acupuncture and , but he still wasn't budging. I did and chiro for a few weeks before the others, which in hindsight, I should have jumped on it all ASAP to increase our chances of him turning on his own.
Through all of this I was really working on my mindset and talked to baby often. I journaled affirmations and prayed that no matter what happened, as long as we were safe that was all that mattered.đđź Let me tell you, as someone who DESPERATELY did not want a hospital birth, it took time for me to really and truly be OK with that possibility.
Being in LA, we have access to a lot, which I am very thankful for. Given that, and my Nurse-Midwife who had worked with an in-network OG OB - I had access to someone who not only could perform the ECV, but who does should the ECV not be successful. I put my faith in God, baby, and this man's expertise.
We had to be in the hospital just in case the procedure would induce labor (placental abruption, waters breaking, etc) again, something I had come to terms with, and was truly okay with that if it was to be. Iâm not going to sugar-coat it⌠it didnât feel good𼴠Imagine an already very crowded abdomen pushing all your organs out of the way, being manipulated to maneuver this cantaloupe-sized baby. It was hard to breathe because of the pressure and direction he had to push to turn the baby. But it was over almost as quickly as it began. When he removed his hands and used the ultrasound machine to check babyâs position one final time, I asked âdid he turn?â and with the âyep, head downâ confirmation, the biggest and purest tears of joy streamed down my face.đ
I was oh so thankful for his work, babyâs willingness to turn and Godâs hand to keep us safe. Now, for him to STAY head down a few more weeks! (P.S. There some more important details I want to share, so be sure to check out my stories highlight, as well as my husbandâs POV.)
Feliz Cinco de Mayo, amigos! Where your taco plates at?! đŽ For not having things super planned out, these tacos came out delicious and most importantly, nutritious!
We donât do anything super traditional here, but with general spices, protein of choice, and veggies, I can usually whip up something good (and quick). A point I always try to make is adding in any veggies I can to plump up the nutritional value. Food is not adequate fuel if we donât eat whole foods, which typically comes quite colorfully as well. Filling our body with crap can lead to myriad of issues from gut problems and hormone imbalances, to inflammation and fatigue.
It doesnât need to be a well thought out plan to eat well. Get the best quality food you can in their whole form, and just start!
Here we have 8 minute chicken breast in the IP with broth and seasonings then shredded and added to sautĂŠed onion, bell pepper, carrot, cauli, canned diced tomatoes, and mushroom.
đĽ Top with your favorite fixinâs - all we had on hand were: cheese, almost-wilted cilantro, and avocado. đ§
Did you get your Vitamin D in this weekend?
It was a mildly warm weekend for us and we got in some family pool time. Does it look like Holden enjoyed himself? đ¤Ş
A few facts about one of my favorite new topics to learn about; Vitamin D:
âď¸Did you know itâs actually not a vitamin but a HORMONE?!
âď¸Vitamin D is vital to many processes within the body, including for pregnancy and may even help reduce the risk of pregnancy complications.
âď¸The sun and supplements are your best sources (itâs very hard to get enough from your diet)
âď¸In many places, itâs nearly impossible to make it from the sun during winter due to the the tilt of the Earth, so supplementation is key.
âď¸Itâs best to get some sun exposure WITHOUT sunscreen first. We donât want to burn or create any skin damage, however if you lather up first thing, you wonât get that vital Vit D!
These are just FEW of the many amazing facts about Vitamin D. If youâre interested in more, as well as more Vitamin D and pregnancy/postpartum benefits, be sure to check out blog. I find much of my information from her and the broad research she does for the prenatal/postpartum community.
