Masters of Bourbon

The MOB was officially born in September of 2020. And, although we had already picked what one would consider a “traditional” brand with our first collaboration, Buffalo Trace, we wanted to do something truly unique, unlike any other barrel picks in our area at the time.

Barrell Craft Spirits seemed like just the brand we were looking for. Barrell had started to gain a good market share with its expertly barrel blending techniques, which created very unique, aged, cask strength whiskies and bourbon. We tasted through various bourbon and whiskey expressions and finally settled on a winner.

A blend of aged Kentucky whiskies, finished in a Sicilian Amaro cask became the first ever Masters of Bourbon hand selected release. We called it La Cosa Nostra….meaning “Our Thing” or “This Thing of Ours” which goes back to the beginning of the Sicilian Mafia.

So, after we picked our first barrel (technically before MOB was officially created), we quickly went to work on the next one….a truly unique selection like no other in our area at the time. And that’s when we decided branding was extremely important for what we were doing. Teaming up with Karen Shirley Stanley at neonFrog, we took what was once just an idea and made it a reality.
