“I directed this film, Break the Blade after a hotel housekeeper, Joy, shared the horrible experience she encountered in her village while performing a rite of female ge***al mutilation at the age of 12 years. She went on to show me the pictures of how her legs were spread out by two men in other not to resist the circumcision. She realized that ever after the circumcision rite, not only that she doesn't enjoy s*x as a woman she also feels her greater essence as a woman has been taken away from her which makes any man that comes around her not to settle with her.
In my personal experience, I realize that female ge***al mutilation as they would propose does not curb promiscuity
rather victims who are not s*xually satisfied tends to indulge more in s*x for money hence leaving them unaccomplished.
The main character, Mercy, has a similar experience and plans to confront the man that put a horrible scare on her dignity.
This inspired me to create Mercy's arc. The character's repellence towards the male folks turns to love in the end.”
