I’ve got 8 more knit swatch ornaments in the store. Made using my knitted sample swatches, in cute 3 inch embroidery hoops. These also give me an opportunity to use ribbons from my vast ribbon collection I’ve spent years acquiring. Thank you 😊 https://barlowfamilygeneralstore.com/products/knit-swatch-ornaments
Episode 4 is out now! This one is all over the place, in a good way, like your favorite Sebadoh record. Lou and I talk about indoor malls, baby alive, Lou in jewelry, beef stew, GBV, my first crush and more! Plus Lou does faithful recreations of two vintage baby doll commercials. Come listen, like and subscribe😘 https://open.spotify.com/episode/7i91C9wamsB6G8WVmKlngo?si=dsJVux9gQPWfDSXmsv1YtA

Hey guess what? We’ve got a quick mini episode (15 minutes!) of the podcast today, music and a little chat. Lou plays two songs Pulse (from Brace The Wave) and Too Pure from Sebadoh’s (Harmacy). Lou has been relearning Pulse to add it to solo shows and listening to the two songs got me wondering if they were somehow connected (by chance?). Thanks for listening and liking and subscribing! We love doing the podcast. Regular full length episode will air Wednesday morning. The pics are ones I took for Brace The Wave back when we lived in Glendale, CA. link here https://open.spotify.com/episode/5Pgmmcu5kUNvqM67SsgXJY?si=vFG4Rs4BT4m6xsZT35pvAw
THANK YOU! I spent the morning printing T-shirts and have a bunch to send out today. Along with some knit caps, swatch ornaments and one of my cardigans off to Belgium. How exciting, I like picturing someone in Belgium wearing my sweater. You are keeping me busy folks and I’m very grateful for it. Thanks again, oh so much 😘❤️🥳 you can find links on my profile that take you to the store or you can simply google Barlow Family General Store and you’ll find us no problem.
I’ve been saving all my sample swatches for years hoping to find creative ways to use them. I’ve decided to try some knit swatch ornaments, also could be a mini wall hanging. I have hundreds of knitted pieces, scraps, gauge swatches etc and its fun to revisit them as I make these ornaments. I knitted every single one of them. I hope you enjoy them as much I do. I’ll make more if folks like them. I have ten available. I’ll link in my stories to buy them and you can also google search Barlow Family General Store and our shop will pop right up!
Hey! Friends new and old, abundant and heartfelt thanks for the lovely response this week to our podcast release! 🥰 thank you for coming along with us on this journey. We know there is no shortage of podcasts in this world so giving ours some of your time means a whole lot to us.
Nothing like a Bed Bath & Beyond bathroom selfie to document a haircut and return to bangs! It’s not an “I voted” selfie cuz that happened in the voting by mail way last week. Now I’m off to find a cutting board..🔪
It’s an alien invasion! 👽😱 Addison from Zombies 3 is psyched for Halloween 🎃
It was a whirlwind weekend trip to Wisconsin but I’m so glad I was able to be there. Fifty years married for my folks. Cheers to them 🥂here’s my Mom in the sweater I made and that’s her wedding dress in the background. Photo by their longtime friend Linda Wiltfang.
With my brothers Dylan and Holland ❤️❤️ Can you guess who’s oldest to youngest?
A lot went through my mind as I was knitting. This sweater is my gift to my Mom to wear at her 50th wedding anniversary party this weekend. The pattern is inspired by her wedding dress. Unconventional, she wore pink and plaid. Her good friend made the dress. The pattern part on the sweater I made is done using intarsia method. It’s a lot like hand weaving on a rug. You work each little section by hand. It’s tedious yet deeply satisfying work. Long term relationships can be very challenging and yes, tedious at times. The emerging “picture” or story of the effort though, revealing itself to be even more incredible than you could have imagined. I watched my parents weave their lives together. I felt very fortunate to knit this piece and hopefully my Mom will feel seen, loved and appreciated. My parents are great partners and I’m happy to be along for the ride, observing and learning. ❤️

My best friend is 56 today and I booked his dream gift-a narrated Connecticut River boat ride. (How cute is that for a birthday wish?!) Let’s get this party started! 🥳
Granny square lavender sachets. Crochet. Handmade. These have so many uses! Perfect for housewarming, bridesmaids, keeping your clothes fresh, stocking stuffers and more! I crocheted these using beautiful organic cotton yarn by Blue Sky Fibers, stuffed organic cotton muslin bags with organic dried lavender flowers. These are super organic folks! Easy gifting, do it up!
Behold! A mermaid who transformed into a fairy! Storybook Theater camp is awesome 👏
The last of my summer scarves have been added to the shop. Orders won’t ship until after July 6th as we are heading to Maine for a few days. Thanks!
Added some sale summer scarves to the shop today. This scarf is a 1x1 rib knit made on a vintage 3 gauge hand operated knitting machine. The yarn is stretchy and soft making for a very comfortable and cozy summer wrap/scarf. It would be nice on an airplane or a summer evening to keep your shoulders warm but not sweaty. It’s knit with 100% eco friendly bamboo yarn. Size is approximately 73 inches long by 11 inches wide. Link>profile thanks!
