The Mississippi Aesthetic is a new biannual anthology celebrating writers, musicians, actors, dancers, performers, and visual artists throughout the state of Mississippi. I've been painting portraits and illustrations for close to 40 years. Every year I do at least one painting of my grand babies reflecting their personalities at the time. The oldest loves dress up and imagines herself as a prima ballerina. The youngest adores her big sister and communicates with sounds that could only come from a baby girl or a pterodactyl.

On the 13th of April, I judged Pacesetter Gallery's plein air painting competition. Each time Keri Davis and Pacesetter's does it, it gets bigger and better. The art was great and the people were even better. I look forward to the next one.
