A bit about my painting 'career'
I have been painting furniture for years (since 1987)
In those long ago days I used the traditional techniques of sanding everything well before a couple of undercoats and several top layers (sanded in between) to achieve a pristine smooth look to my pieces. Now there are several modern products on the market and I tend to vary what I use depending on the finish
required. Old habits die hard though and I always prepare thoroughly no matter what it says on the tin! I have ventured into the world of chalky paints and waxed finishes but my all time favourite is eggshell for that beautiful smooth look! Due to work commitments, I mostly paint for myself but now and again I sell on surplus pieces or do the odd commission. I have also recently delved into other decorative items and methods ..................
Decoupage and painting bottles - next on the to do list is book folding so watch this space :-)
I just love being creative and I love old things with their history and solidity, all the imperfections which are still evident beneath the surface finish tell a tale and are at the heart of the object's beauty. I am always happy to answer your questions :-)
