WCGBA Referees Society Laws of the Game Seminar

The Referees Society are holding a Laws of the Game Seminar on the 7th May at Abergele B.C. starting at 7.00pm. An open invitation is extended to Team Captains and Players who want to get to know the updated Laws of the Game and the interpretations of them. The Seminar will be run by Mr David Williams of the BCGBA Referees Society.

Open Competitions 2024
The application form for 2024 Open Competition Certificates is now online on the WCGBA website here:

A change in the process for this year is that BCGBA Certificates will now be issued by the WCGBA which should simplify the process.
As in 2023, we intend to keep a list of Certificates issued and planned Open Competitions for the year on the WCGBA website. Accordingly, on receipt of your Certificate, it is requested that you advise the dates of all Open Competitions it is intended to hold by email to [email protected] so that a record is available to all.

Application for WCGBA Open Competitions Certificate 2024

Would all Clubs and Open Competition organisers please note that there is a motion before the BCGBA AGM to change the process for issuing their certificates which may change the process for application. Accordingly, the 2024 WCGBA application form will be delayed until a decision is made and no action is required pending that.

Please note that the AGM will be held on Saturday February 10th 2024, 2pm at The Beaches Hotel, Prestatyn.

If you have any Notices of Motion/Proposals to put forward at the AGM, they must be sent to Trevor Clarke WCGBA CEO - [email protected]. no later than January 11th 2024. Any received after that date will not be accepted.

Details of the AGM, minutes and agenda etc. will be sent to all attendees after January 11th.

Open Competitions 2023

We are approaching the time of year when many Clubs are considering the date and format of Open Competitions that they wish to hold and it is accordingly appropriate to remind all concerned of the rules set out in paragraphs 7.1 and 7.2 of the WCGBA Rules and Bye Laws regarding the registration of Open Competitions both with the WCGBA and, if required, the BCGBA.
Whilst the deadline for receipt of an Open Competition Certificate is 28 days before the commencement of the Competition the rules also state that:
Promoters of such contests must display on entry forms and all forms of publicity relating to the event the words “Affiliated to and approved by the WCGBA”
and it follows that such wording or indeed any mention that the Competition is approved by the WCGBA should not be included in publicity until the relevant Open Competition Certificate is held.
Currently the Certificate when issued is for the Club for the whole year and is not Competition specific allowing several Competitions to be held that year if required.
Whilst there is no intention to change this, we do ask Clubs to have consideration for other Competitions both Open, WCGBA and BCGBA when setting their dates. For this reason, we intend to keep a list of Certificates issued and planned Open Competitions for the year on the WCGBA website. Accordingly, on receipt of your Certificate, it is requested that you advise the dates of all Open Competitions it is intended to hold by email to [email protected] so that a record is available to all.

The WCGBA have 2 sound systems available to any Clubs who wish to have them on a 'first come, first served' basis. They are free to collect from Penyfford BC (on left) or Abergele BC (on right) although a small contribution to WCGBA funds would be appreciated!
