Don't fall your dog by being ill prepared!
It's true!

Great advice to the ever increasing issues of FF/PP training.
Teddy-Roo & Philo are back boarding again!!
These frequent flyers have become part of the little pack here. We refer to them as my Pack's cousins LOL
Say hello to Honey & Sugar!
These 2 are easily over stimulated & have some insecurity issues resulting in reactivity on their walks, when they see other dogs.
A you can see they are big girls and their mom would really like to enjoy their walks around the neighborhood.
We are establishing new rules and boundaries in the house & the back yard by giving mom new information and giving her, her power back!
Meet Max!
Max is around 5 months old & entering adolescence. That can be a rough phase as hormones kick in and your dog suddenly acts like you don't matter and everything he or she has learned to go out the window.
His family recently adopted Max and he spent time in a foster home with other dogs. His main issue is he's never learned that the human head is relevant and really any house manners. So we are going to turn that around for Max and his family.
There is also another dog in the home that's a little bit older and not to accepting yet of max. So we will also be working on some insecurity issues with her and teaching them how to respect each other and the humans in the house.
Our dogs guy health is just as inorganic as our own.
This is worth considering!

Jax is so grown up now! After being away for a few years (military), his family is back in the area! He stayed with us over the weekend.
Jax eve has a human sibling in the house now!
A a DDR GSD, he is true to his breed! He's a lot of fun, a lot of energy & his family out in A LOT of work.
Ball/toy drive for life!
To all of those who are a mother in one form or another.......HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Dog moms... show me your pups!!
THIS!!
I'm frequently asked things like.... can you fix this for good or do you guarantee XYZ will never happen again?
The answer is..no! Dogs are living, thinking beings continuing to be exposed to circumstance
We must stop expecting more of animals than we do of ourselves and each other!

Influenced by a post on by my peer & friend Sue Ellen Lebendig, I thought I would share this link of a compound list of many things that contain this very dangerous 'ingredient' to our dogs!
Please be informed!

The amount of people that choose 'cheaper' & 'sooner' over quality, yet expect three same outcome, still baffles me.
It IS about priorities & the value placed on a well mannered dig & informed owners
Really great post & video about Service & Emotional Sort Dogs!
Also keep in mind that just because you intend for your puppy to provide a certain service for you, does not mean that at the end of 2 years (when the pup is mature & has completed training) your dog will be a good candidate.
What is your plan then?

If professional service dog organizations take upwards of 2 years to field a dog…
At a cost of $30,000…
What makes you think your puppy can become one in a month?
If it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably false.
Keep this in mind before you drop $10,000 on the same 1 month training program you’d normally get for less than half that, just because you clicked the “service dog” option.
You’re not only getting ripped off, your puppy is probably getting abused in the process.
Philo is a frequent flyer boarding with me.
He and his brother are here for a few days and after coming in from out of the rain, I looked at him today and could not get Bill and Ted's big adventure out of my head!
I hope you get as good of a chuckle out of this as I did!
The reality of the Eclipse and animals! Don't buy into the nonsense!

I say this to every client I take on & most every person I have a consultation with.
It's amazing the number of people who still retain unrealistic expectations, not only from the trainer but from their dog YET, very little or no expectations of themselves.

If you have a puppy or are thinking of getting one..

Puppies are fun but can also be challenging as they go through their growth stages.
If you are thinking of getting a puppy, keep these things in mind.
1) do your research on breeds that will best fit your energy level and lifestyle. Even with that being said, dogs are individuals and you may get a dog that is not typical to the breed. It's important their mental, emotional & physical needs are met.
2) if it's been a while since you've raised a dog or if you've never raised a dog, take the time to do your research on the stages of puppyhood to adolescence to adulthood. There are crucial time frames in their growth process as well as it being important to know why your puppy may suddenly be acting differently. Often times it's due to hormones and adolescence.
3) it's always a good idea to really understand canine body language and our own body language in order to best communicate with each other.
4) have realistic expectations for what a puppy is capable of doing at each phase of their growth. With that in mind, also take into consideration how much active, intentional training you are & have put forth with your puppy. ( training is never ending, btw). Whether intended or not you are teaching your puppy or even a new dog to the household, with every interaction you have.
Cheers to the dog raising process!!!
It doesn't matter how long your dog goes through training. Whether it's a Board & Train, one on one sessions, short or long termm group classes....
YOU must not only implement what you have learned into a way of life ,but ask questions in areas you and your dog are struggling.
It doesn't matter how good a trainer is or how much information they share if YOU, the owner, do not do the work!
A trainer can not be more invested in your goals & what's best for your dog, than you are!
Training is ongoing. There are no long lasting quick fixes if you want a dog who is fulfilled & enjoys life as much as you enjoy your dog!
Words of wisdom from Cheri!

Make sure when working with your dog or puppy, that you engage their nose. You can often see a nervous or insecure dog transform when they stop relying on their eyes and ears for information but rather their nose.
That's not to say that they don't utilize their eyes and their ears but nose first.
Have you ever taken the time to just be with your dog outside and sniff the air together?
A great genuine from Mark K9 Command !

Say hello to Prada!!

Their family has been working with me since they were 8 weeks old to ensure the family had the proper Puppy Protocols in place to start their lives off in the right paws!

Our Story
Welcome! I am here to help you and your dog regain balance and harmony. Is your dog the family pet you envisioned? Does your dog jump, bark at everything, counter surf, have separation anxiety, drag you on a walk? I can help!! By establishing rules and structure through calm energy and leadership, we can change your dog's state of mind.
I have worked with animals my entire life raising and rehabilitating everything from household pets to wildlife and exotic animals. Then a little Jagdterrier, I later named, Steeler, found me. He would challenge everything I thought I knew about dogs, my confidence, my patience. This led me into the world of balanced dog training. So I have been exactly where you are. I understand your frustration. And I'm here to tell you that by working together, we can change the stress and frustration around.
I have been privileged to study participate Leerburg online courses and videos. Curtis Craig of The Calm K9 helped my Little Man. I then was privileged to intern with them with laer becoming their head trainer. We have since built a good friendship and they continue to mentor. I continually read, study, attend seminars when possible to increase my knowledge of how to better help your relationship with your dog. So we will work together to reestablish the trust and mend the relationship between you and your dog.
I offer....
1) Private In-Home sessions where we work on proper household manners, proper walking on a leash, stop counter surfing, jumping, nipping and barking just to name a few
2)Puppy Superstar. In this package I work with dogs as young as 6 weeks starting with 2 private sessions in your home to get potty training, crate training and basic house manners off on the right paw. This will be followed by 2 week board & train for proper socialization with other dogs, confidence building, proper exposure to things in our human world. My goal is to guide you to having a trusting, loving, respectful relationship with your dog and set your dog up on a path to be a balanced, well behaved, dog.
3) Week Board & Train. This will take place at my facility. We address issues such as leash reactivity, improper walking, counter surfing, jumping on people among other inappropriate house shenanigans. We also work on recall, thresholds, proper walks, calm in the house, with the main focus being on your relationship with your dog and your dog’s state of mind. The length of the program will be dependent on your dog’s issues as well as how severe.
4) Consultation. I will come to your home and assess the issues you are having and discuss the program I feel best fits your needs. 5 5) SKYPE sessions. 30 or 1 hour sessions.
