When something happens to our babies or children, there is a visceral experience like it is happening to a part of ourselves. Being exposed and vulnerable means that mothers need to be strong and brave. The other side of nurturer is protecter. So, people need to stop telling mothers that they are too emotional or taking things too personally.
How do you want to spend the next couple of months with your baby? Fill yourself up and refuel with nature, community and connection. New Sessions of Wild Return New Mom & Baby group begin next week in SF and Berkeley.
Mothering is a practice. It means living an on call lifestyle. It's round the clock without days off because even when you take a day off, you always know that anything can happen. It's being there even when you are not fully up for it and coming back when things haven't gone so well. It's allowing for hard days and trying again to make things better. You don't just do it when you feel like it. Mothering is the REAL spiritual path. That's why calling someone a MOTHER is an honorific and speaks volumes about their capacity to stick with something.
Can we finally liberate ourselves from the perfect mother trap that comes from idealizing mothers or blaming them for everything? And then stop playing into the hands of people who benefit from that losing game of perfectionism that keeps us overhwelmed, exhausted, feeling lousy about ourselves or on a constant self-improvement wheel while they make money off of us. This way, we can relax into being good enough mothers.
You have a new baby and maybe you're recovering and learning the ropes with a newborn. Does that mean you plan to stay inside this May & June?
Come out for community, connection & getting comfortable as a mother.

The culture lacks meaningful support for new moms and ignores the significant psycho-spiritual experience of welcoming a child.
Wild Return was created to meet people where they are and meet that need in a nonjudgmental and compasisonate space.
