5 COMMON CAUSES OF SUDDEN DEATH IN ADULTS AND HOW TO PREVENT THEM.

You may have witnessed or heard stories of someone who just slumped and died. Most times, it’s because of an underlying health problem that didn’t have any symptoms before. That’s why you may hear something like; s/he wasn’t sick before. S/he just slumped and was rushed to the hospital before confirming him/her death.

In some instances, the person may have complained of brief headache or chest pain before the unfortunate demise.

Below are 5 common causes of sudden death in adults

1. Heart attack
2. Abnormal heart rhythms
3. Inherited thickening of the heart muscles
4. Stroke
5. Sudden bleeding into the brain

How to prevent them;

1. If you have a relative who died suddenly, all family members should visit the hospital ASAP for routine checks including ECG (a test to check electrical activities of the heart)

2. If you have diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, take your medications as prescribed and don’t miss your regular hospital appointments.

3. Treat your body right by eating right, exercising right, and sleeping well

4. Avoid any form of smoking, including sh**ha.

5. Reduce your alcohol intake.

6. Manage your stress very well.

7. If you have unusual headache, quickly report to the hospital without delay.

8. If you notice weakness of one side of your face, arms, legs or changes in speech, quickly rush to the hospital without delay.
