So let’s talk transport in Bali….

We are scaredy cats and haven’t ventured out on a yet (not sure we ever will 🙀) !

Closest we got was when we stayed and they had this lovely Royal Enfield motorbike and sidecar in the car park - we still didn’t go out on it though! We will stick with taxi’s and drivers for now 😅🚗

Just an hours’ drive from where will be, and situated at the foot of Mount Batukaru in the Tabanan Regency of central Bali, Jatiluwih is one of Bali’s most stunning and largest rice fields.

The word Jatiluwih is derived from the words “Jati” meaning “true” or “real” and “Luwih” meaning “good”. A true testament to the crop the fields produce and to its authentic, natural beauty.

The rice terraces of Jatiluwih were developed over half a millennium ago, using the 11th century old Subak irrigation system that Bali is known for. The Subak system is a complex network of waterways and canals that lead the water from the mountains into the rice fields, and is considered sacred and culturally important. It was developed based on Balinese philosophy and Hindu beliefs surrounding harmony and balance between mankind and nature.

Candi bentar, or ‘split gateway’ is a classical Balinese and Javanese gateway. Spot this symbol at the entrance of temples, denoting a mountain that has been split into two. Mountains are considered sacred by the Balinese. Thus, these intricately carved gates are seen as portals that connect the physical and spiritual world. Symbols and mythological characters are often carved into the stone, including scary monsters believed to prevent evil spirits from entering the sacred temple. The guardian dragons and demons that flank the stairways leading up to the gateway have a similar role.

On our recent trip to Bali, we discovered the hidden gem of . Unlike traditional cooking schools, we experienced an organic farm tour where we handpicked fresh vegetables for our dishes. The family who runs the farm was incredibly welcoming, and their setup is beautifully organized. The best part? The dishes we cooked were absolutely delicious! If you’re looking for a unique cooking experience in Bali, Pemulan Bali Farm is a must-visit.

We wanted to create a calm and peaceful environment away from prying eyes for our new villas - both the 1 bed and the 4 bed will be totally enclosed, so that when our guests arrive home by car or moped on the lovely flat residential road through the pretty village, they will be cocooned in luxurious surroundings all around.

We plan to give the feeling of soft curves and ultimate comfort, so that guests can enjoy each other’s company with 5 star home comforts, and carefully curated additional facilities to make their stay truly memorable 🥰

There’s a fab River Pod we want to try - dinner suspended over the River Ayung!

They have day passes if you’d like to use their pool or you can just make a booking in one of their fabulous restaurants.

So here’s a sneak peak at our layout plans by 🤓

We have a 2 storey 1 bed modern treehouse style vila and a single storey 4 bed villa, both with private pools.

The spa room in the 4 bed will also be able to accommodate 2 more people if required. There’s also off-street parking and an office for our onsite Team.

We spent a long time discussing the layout with the Team, who were so patient, and interpreted our ideas perfectly, making the best use of every inch!

We are currently looking at having an electric car charger in the parking area - what do you think? Do you think it’s needed?

There will also be a regular outdoor socket for electric mopeds and other uses.

So here’s our plot (the jungle on the right) in the village of Sayan Sindu - it’s in a clean and pretty road with lots of very well kept homesteads.

Easily accessible by car and just across from the Ayung River, it’s very peaceful - the perfect place to chill out 😎
