The 42nd installment of our podcast series comes from none other than producer, dj, and visual artist Morgan Hislop! Morgan has held down radio shows on infamous stations such as Rinse FM, Radar Radio and just closed a four year residency on Reprezent Radio. His vibrant and colourful music is usually paired with his equally bold design and animation work. Remixing everyone from SOPHIE to Rosalia, his club bootlegs and edits have been praised by the likes of VTSS and I. Jordan. His debut album âGhostinâ Meâ sent him in a new direction, injecting his club influence into future pop sensibilities and collaborating with vocalists from around the world.
After moving away from radio to focus more on making music this year, heâs been lacking a regular outlet to show what inspires him. In order to catalogue these tracks that accumulated over the summer in one concise mix, he created this bubbly and powerful selection for us. Uplifting and playful like everything he does, it snakes between lofty breaks, melodramatic house and garage. Thereâs a nod to the late great DJ DEEON (RIP) and a few other surprises thrown in there as well. Sit back, turn up the volume, and reminisce in memories of summer days passed or what it would have felt like, to have an actual summer!

When it comes to dj's fiercely dancing on stage, we instantly think of fake moves executed mainly for the feeds. But that's not always the case. As with Eva Jakimoska - Moska - hailing from the small town of Ljubljana but lately more frequently spotted in Graz and even more in Vienna where she currently resides. Her stage moves are enthusiastically honest, but more importantly she doesn't read the floor, she's a part of it - whether she's doing a head noddin' true school hip hop set, a laid back soul-funk soiree or conducting a serious footwork/bass/ghetto/house club workout. Sometimes she even mixes it all up.
The bio formalities and impressive references: Moska started actively deejaying around 2015 and since then performed in different countries across Europe (Sweden, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Austria ...), on different festivals and radios such as Elevate festival, Impulstanz festival, Ment festival, Radio FM4, Redlight Radio, Radio Helsinki, Res.Radio, Radio Nula, Radio Ć tudent ... She shared the stage with names like Traxman, K-Lone, DJ Fulltono, DJ Innes, MC Sa-Roc, MC Dynasty, FVLCRVM, The Bug and Miss Red. She used to run a weekly radio show called Mishmash Moâ on the online Radio Nula and occasionally organizes events with her fellow DJ friends. She's part of not one but three collectives that connect her triangle of home bases: Service (Vienna), Whammy (Graz) and Ghetto Trunk (Ljubljana).
Moska truly and thoroughly embodies the classic dj ethos: peace, unity, love and having fun ... and giving it always 100%! Keep it fresshhh.
Here's what she said about her mix for our podcast series:
Itâs a game of tempo 80/160bpm. Doubling, halving, doubling, halving ...
Doubled up, doubled down ... in the mix! Itâs a musical romance between genres which are circling around hiphop, starting from the roots and going to the branches. âSomebody gonna love you, somebody gonna hate. I will love, I will love, I will love.â - Seven Davis Jr. feat. Kutmah - Afterlife.

Even as a child, medea mad was playing her cassettes wherever it was possible. 1999 the first encounter with DJ culture happened and the first set of turntables were bought. DânâB and Break Beats as the foundation, she dove through many different scenes and styles of music. Then life happened and she lost interest in mixing electronic music for a while until 2019. Instagram opened the world of music again and she learned about all the UK Bass Music and Footwork and the passion for DJing came back. The long lasting Lockdowns gave the opportunity to spend more time on music and now, enjoy what she comes up with.
You can catch her playing DJ sets in Munich on the mighty elemental wave soundsystem and she also runs her own radioshow on Radio 80000.

Through digging the parentsâ Soul and 80âs Dance Tapes in his childhood, Tension got influenced with music early. By listening to genres like Hip Hop, Metal and later Drum & Bass aswell as House Music, he got enthusiastic about the diversity of electronic music. Those inspirations are defining his musical career, but contributing to his eclecticism in sound.
By gathering experience at clubs and festivals since 2006, he soon got deeper into DJing and producing various electronic sounds. This was followed by several releases amongst labels like Kaputt Musik, Vector Functions and recently Illegal Alien.
Based in his homebase Bielefeld, he took his sound to South Africa in 2013 for a fourteen days tour, followed by gigs at Berlinâs Kater Holzig, Maria am Ostbahnhof and Tresor. Beside several EPâs, he released his first self entitled album on his regular, Berlin-based label âBe Sureâ.
Relevantly embossed by labels like Basic Channel, Ostgut Ton or Perlon, he situates his sound between the poles of (Dub-)Techno, Electronica and Breakbeat, but with a touch of minimalism which he expresses aswell in his DJ- as in his Livesets.

Common Mob is a DJ, vocalist and promoter based in Dresden.
Raised in the mountains of eastern Germany he is deeply connected to nature, understands sound as a medium to communicate across far distance and music as driving force to gather the tribe.
His DJ sets are moving straight forward through uneven terrains such as Grime, Dubstep, Halftime Drum'n'Bass and Footwork, ready to cross every obstacle and break down all barriers when roaring from a sound system. In 2021 he started producing first tunes and performed lyrics on Dj sets.
Since then he played several shows at parties and festivals with Rap phenomena Kreis01.
Next to several years organization of âWaldfloorâ at the event series âKrach am Bach â Oberpöbel Musik Festâ and âPochwerk Orangeâ at PutzmĂŒhle, he's throwing parties in Dresden and surroundings with Pamb Sound crew and their handbuildt soundsystem.
As founding member of Subkontra collective he has been organizing Bass Music open airs with two sound system floors, interactive and educational programs.
For the mycelium's sake the idea is to invite different sound systems every year.
In 2023 Subkontra will turn into a festival taking place from 21st to 23rd July in Oberpöbel.
With his work he is contributing to electronic music scene's biodiversity as a source of resilience and supporting growth of a strong eco system of cultural activists.
Deeply grounded while lost in bass, Common Mob brings wild forest energy to the dance floor.

The Hamburg - Berlin connection is strong at DARK REAL DARK. Not only because many of our members are living in these two cities, but there's also constant interaction and conversations between crews and artists from the German capital and the northern bass hub.
One of the interesting new faces of Bassmusic there is Sarah Qu, who blessed us with a stunning mix for our podcast series.
Music has always fascinated Sarah endlessly - ever since her brain started forming thoughts and maybe even before that. Her first rave experiences were key moments and she immediately knew that she wanted to DJ, but it took some years to move from the dancefloor behind the decks. It all started with her and DJ Babyblade (fka Claud) playing a back-to-back set for the capsule livestream. Shortly after, Freddy Kuno gathered Usus, Selsela, and Sarah Q to form the crew KINETIK SESSIONS. They started throwing small parties at Astrastube and also had slots at Waagenbau and Fusion Festival. In recent months, Sarah represented the crew at renowned clubs like Uebel & GefĂ€hrlich, Golden Pudel, and SĂŒdpol among others.
Her podcast for DARK REAL DARK features a mixture of deep and dubby afrobeat tunes with a dark tone running through the whole mixtape. Get ready for some future s**t from Hamburg!
Happy release day Casement!
His track 'Division' is now live on our Bandcamp - Link in the comments as per usual đ.
'Division' provides an energetic, yet uplifting vibe, drawing inspiration from US club sounds and up north UK niche music alike, clocking in at 150bpm.
The premiere and pre-order for our next release by Casement just went live!
Much love to Rendah Mag for the premiere and thanks to Umut Avialan for his kind words on the review!

You wouldn't really call Kyra a newcomer, although she started DJing only three years ago. But as a music passionist from day one with her father being a musician and audio engineer, she started her musical journey very early. She grew up listening to punk, 90's, experimental sounds, self-recorded tapes as well as soul in her children's room. You
would meet her often at underground events in Berlin as a guest but in
the last years even more behind the decks. All these influences and
events merge into her eclectic DJ sets where her love for bass music
meets her enthusiasm for instruments, organic sounds and singing, especially soul and musicals. Over the years she developed an addiction to soundtracks, bass driven music, as well as drums, rhythms,
experimental, darker and melodic/harmonic soundscapes.
Always open to explore old and new fields, she is playing genre-fluid
and likes mixing different genres together (to push the boundaries of
musical limitations (just) a bit more.) As our approach has always been
"no genre-boundaries" DARK REAL DARK is very happy to present you her
mix for our podcast series, which matches this attitude perfectly.

' âOdysseyâ is a concept album of 8 tracks building a story arc on the the foundations of bass music genres such as wave, grime, dubstep and future garage.
The record is an exploration of the early âwaveâ sound, but even more so a work of sonic fiction melting together inspirations from dystopian cinematics, mysticism, and psychedelic imaginaries.
Sonically, the album puts a focus on atmospheric sound design and emotive synth textures, supported by furious drum programming and droning reece basslines.
From fragments of German and British rave culture to Bulgarian choirs, Chinese zithers and Japanese taiko drums, the album embodies its name in regards to its diverse instrumental palette.
âOdysseyâ is a journey through many trials and tribulations, taking the listener on a path of becoming.

We are happy to present another fine release from our beloved friends from Leipzig Defrostatica Records. This time they are dropping the first stand alone EP from DjBadshape aka Maria Schwind. Release date is the 14th of January 2022.
DjBadshape is a multi-talented artist from Leipzig,
Germany, working in the fields of design and music. The singer, producer and DJ debuted on Defrostatica Records in Summer 2021 on the various artist compilation Hybrid Hooks with âI See Redâ. Her light-footed and open-minded approach to club music was premiered and reviewed with great praise by Leipzigâs electronic music magazine frohfroh. In her first own release on the label though she puts a different emphasis. Influenced by gritty personal events DjBadshape has written two tracks that are on the dark side of two different genres: drum and bass and techno.
Hurrican Kick is a minimal autonomic drum and bass tune carried by instruction calls from Londonâs roller skater star Stormskater. Few percussive elements are floating around a hypnotic kick pattern that soon elevates the dancer in the âzoneâ.
