Each year, The Trussell Trust teams up with major supermarkets to collect food and fundraise for local foodbanks. Christmas is a particularly difficult time for those facing hardship, and this year the Trust expects to provide more than a million emergency food parcels. As part of our commitment to supporting them and the local community, a team of Ants took a shift at the Old Kent Road Tesco, giving shopping lists to customers, collecting and crating up food donations and collecting monetary donations.
Thanks to Noah Baker, Amy Fitzjohn, Lilian Ljungkvist and Joshua Macleod, and to Eugénia Page Hewitt for organising. Noah and Amy shared their thoughts about the experience:
Noah Baker: 'I always love getting out of the office and working with people in the local community. It’s a reminder that there are some amazingly generous people out there who are willing to donate to an important cause.'
Amy Fitzjohn: 'This is the second time I have been able to take part in this and I would love to do so again. It’s great to be able to get out and do our bit to help collect donations for the charity and also meet some of the local people who contribute so generously to this amazing cause.'
