Congratulations to Belen and Jaxon. They were honored by the DAR for their 'Excellence in American History' as 5th grade scholars. We are so proud of your hard work!

Our Sonora teachers were awarded generous grants from to purchase STEM supplies, instruments, books, and interactive assemblies for our students. We are thankful for the generosity of the foundation and dedication of our teachers!

We hope to see everyone at our Cinco de Mayo celebration tomorrow! Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week, see the attached flyer for ideas to celebrate your teacher!

We are so proud of our Battle of the Books team! These 4th and 5th grade students have been studying the 20 titles on the competition list since August and traveled to compete against five other schools in March. Our students showcased their love of reading and displayed stellar teamwork. It was an exciting day and our 4th graders can't wait to compete again. We hope to see many of our third graders join next year!

We are so grateful to have such wonderful staff and parents at Sonora. Thank you to our PTA Honorary Service recipients! Congrats to Mrs. McVeigh, Mr. Campbell, Mrs. Peggy, Mrs. Bain, Miss Andrea and Mr. Costelloe. 💙

Dear Sonora School Supporters, Neighbors and Friends,

Year after year, Sonora Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members work tirelessly together as a community to raise funds to pay for essential current and future programs, such as, music, arts, science, family events, assemblies, field trips, after school programs and much more.

Over the last several years, the students from 1st to 6th grade have been invited to participate in a school play and this year we are boasting an amazing group of 68 students in our production! Sonora Elementary School proudly presents Seussical, Jr. for the 2023-2024 school year.

The quality experience provided to the students is provided at a low cost because we want every child who wants to participate to be able to be part of the performance. As with every great program, there are always costs that the production incurs. We are hoping that community members, such as yourself, would consider a generous donation to the school play to help defer the costs and allow this opportunity to remain affordable for every student.

Through your support of this program, you can help ensure that Performing Arts will continue to be a part of the Sonora culture. We would be honored to have you partner with us!

The Newport Exchange Club hosts the Field of Honor at Castaways Park each Memorial Day. Our students were invited, along with other schools in the district, to participate in a patriotic art contest.
