From the very beginning, the aesthetics of the day were important to me (I work in fashion, so I’m visual!), and even though our wedding vision was different than some of OTD’s previous work, I connected deeply with Opi’s approach and taste level! Her ability to take the details we share with her and craft them into a full concept is a sight to behold.

We’ve been told time and time again by friends that our wedding was the best they’ve ever been to (we think so to!), and that it felt like “us”, an extension of our dinner parties we love to throw at our home in NYC.

The magic of the OTD team is the incredible group of creatives they whip together. They seek out talent that they can dream alongside and the work they produce feels unique, like a work of art. Our day was so stunningly beautiful, and truly felt made-for-us, not a copy of something each vendor had done before. (I mean have you seen our photos?!)

At the center is Opi, collecting and curating with an impeccable eye, that shown through on our wedding day.

Thank you, thank you, thank you again to Opi and the team. Not only were we blown away by how beautiful our weekend was, but by your kindness and caring. This is the team you want in your corner!

When Brittany and Philippe came to meet me last summer for a coffee in Vejer, I knew we were going to create something very unique together.

A New York fashion queen and her Belgian Prince Charming 🤍 We balanced elegance with bold splashes of colour and risky textile installations. We wanted a laid-back ambience whilst maintaining a luxurious feel and it was everything, and much much more.

Such a dream to work with you two beauties — and the incredibly talented team who have been pouring their heart and soul into this project for months on end.

Where there are dreamers,

I came to Italy to share journey at conference and it was a huge success. There is too much to say so I’ll be sharing it all in detail with my newsletter community — everyone welcome in this space too of course.

For now, I spend the days visiting dreamy spaces for our couples and posing for my husband — my first post wedding shoot so definitely fun to our the dress back on!

Vows are never how you imagine them to be.

We romanticise about the perfect moment of writing them. Months from the wedding (and maybe even years) you may have a clear idea of what you want to say and probably put it off because you want to be in the ‘right’ headspace.
With an ever evolving relationship, this is normal, you want everything you say to feel right, so like many couples you may leave this until the weekend of your wedding.
And then things begin to feel real, time starts to close in and it can get overwhelming (I know because this was also us on our wedding!)

This is the story of Celeste and Neri…but I’m so glad they chose to do this. Because their vows were pure heart and soul, and they had everyone (including the staff) balling their eyes out. The whole ceremony was tears, followed by laughter, followed by tears followed by more laughter…absolutely beautiful.
It’s such an honor to call this couple out close friends now.
One of the most unforgettable ceremonies ever.

1. I do everything better, so delegating is imposible.

2. Clients don’t pay that much for a wedding planner in my area, so raising my prices isn’t an option.

3. The vendors in my area are old-school making it hard for me to design anything different.

4. I don’t earn enough to hire a team.

5. I can only design what my clients want.

And this list goes on and on and on. Fears, limiting beliefs, excuses. I’ve heard them from myself, my friends, my competitors. Keep telling yourself this, this is what you’ll believe.

What more for yourself? For your business? For your region? Then start thinking differently.

The art of slow Mediterranean weddings. Let go and flow 🍊

Cocktail hour, is never an hour. It’s one of the highlights of the wedding, the time to mingle, try lots of delicious finger food, drinks cocktails — it’s also a time for family portraits and the bride and groom photos. To immerse in this experience you can’t put a tight time limit on it 🍃

This symbol that represents our brand isn’t accidental.

The infinity sign is the limitless possibilities we have in our creativity and every area of our life, but many of us move aimlessly on autopilot like we’ve been conditioned to do.

Are you ready to step into a world of infinite possibilities?

Stop chasing — start attracting

Hey I’m Opi founder of and now

Working around the clock? Pouring your heart into your projects and not seeing the results you want? Comparing yourself to others? Not making the money you want? Cancelling plans with friends and family because you can’t juggle everything?

I’ve been there. I was there for too long. And it hindered my growth, it repelled what I wanted rather than attracted it. I became resentful and nearly packed it all in, twice.

Many of us aren’t creative entrepreneurs, we are business operators, workers wearing all the hats, we are so far deep in it that we have lost perspective of what doing business should feel like.

That’s why I created STYLING WITH SOUL, an online course for event designers, an online community to support you through whatever you are going through.

You don’t need to do this alone, I’ve got you x

Your vision is what makes your work unique. Sometimes you just need someone to believe in you so you can follow through.
But mostly, you need to believe in yourself and if that isn’t your default mode, like it wasn’t mine, then invest in your mindset.
There is so much more to everything when we change the way we look at things ✨

When you come from a place where you’ve been told you aren’t good enough or creative enough, you begin to believe it. And your life is formed by the thoughts you have of yourself.

11 years ago, I landed in Spain, no friends or contacts, very little money, no Spanish. And a mindset that wasn’t cheering me on, in fact I was dealing with anger problems and carrying a load of baggage from my childhood.

I built from the ground up, I created a niche market, became the highest paid wedding planner in my region, increased my service rate by 1000%, was interviewed by Vogue for my eco conscious events and published 20+ times in top international wedding blogs.

It’s not luck — it’s mindset and strategy.

And if you want to uncover creative blocks, money blocks and be the best creative business owner you can be — then join us on this journey.

Choosing the right wedding venue is one of the hardest parts about planning a wedding. It must have capacity for all your loved ones, spaces that connect beautifully for flow and grand reveals, the right facilities and conditions to align with the kind of celebration you want and the list goes on.

The beauty of eloping is that you can get married in the sky if you want, a top a mountainous jungle, with views of a volcano — like Shannon & Jack did.

On 11.11 we traveled to Bali to design this dream elopement experience, head to blog (link in bio) to see how we brought this one to life 🤍

Design is art, and art is personal.

When someone deeply resonates with the work we create, there is no holding them back in hiring us.

But to create work of this kind and that also resonates with us, we need to shut the world out and look within. What is our intuition telling us?

It’s all a practice. But when you master the art of listen to your inner wisdom, that’s when you find flow in both your creativity and your business.

No more running to keep up. Just flowing at your own rhythm.

As one door closes, another one opens…

We’re saying goodbye to our beloved event coordinator Tessa, whom many of you have had the pleasure of working with. She’s been my right-hand woman since 2019, and we’re sad to see her go.

As we say our farewells, we’re thrilled to welcome our newest member Alba to the team, who has been producing events in London for the past few years and will be our new lead Coordinator.

Our on-the-day team continues to grow, welcoming new member Cris, and Varvara, who will be starting her third season with us. I am so proud and grateful to see my team expand — 2024 is going to be magical with all of their energy on board.

At Open the Door events, we’re all about embracing the new and the fresh, fearlessly. It’s our philosophy, and it’s why we’ve continued to evolve and thrive for almost 10 years 🤍

I always get nostalgic saying goodbye – to people, to places, to years... But I also know that when we’re energetically ready to let go, we open up space for something new — and exciting.

Merry Christmas and wishing you a joyful holiday season with your loved ones. The OTD team will be back in the New Year recharged and ready for another glorious season ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

What precedes a thunderstorm is a temporary chaos, and what follows is a calming serenity.

Shannon and Jack brought us to one of the most beautiful islands on Earth to bare witness to their love.

There are many reasons to elope, the main one being able to center your energy truly and wholeheartedly on the person you are joining lives with.

Rituals and ceremonies of reflection, grounding, rejuvenation and awakening preceded their promise to one another.

Then the time arrived, in the sky, above the clouds, amidst the jungle, facing mount Agung volcano….the rain fell at the perfect moment sealing their vows, and rays of golden light emerged just as they moved into dinner.

A magical collection of moments collected by the photographer who sees the world as art and creates an intimacy like no other

Thank you for this one of a kind experience — it will forever be remembered and close to our hearts

Love on the Ganges

In India, handmade altars are crafted in honour of the deceased and ceremoniously carried to bodies of water, where the departed are cremated. Flowers drift gently by, while villagers gather to witness this sacred ritual that returns their loved ones to the embrace of nature.

Death inspired this concept…what do you think?

With 8 years of experience designing events for international clients across 7 different countries, I've picked up some invaluable lessons that I'd like to share with my fellow event designers:

•Embrace collaboration. While independence is a valuable trait, the art of collaboration can bring out the best in us as human beings. Remember, you don't have to do everything alone—I wish I had applied this earlier.

•Focus on what you want to attract. Creativity breeds creativity, money attracts money, and clients bring in more clients. Be mindful of where you're channeling your energy to attract more of what you desire.

•Dream big and work hard, but most importantly, learn how to synchronise the two. It's this synergy that will truly propel you toward your goals.

I'll be diving deeper into these insights and more during my live webinar tomorrow at 17:30 (Spain time) 👩🏾‍💻

The kind of love story, love songs are written about.

While traveling around southern Spain early this Spring, Celeste and Neri came across the place they wanted to marry in. The venue recommended us, we connected and everything began to fall into place with grace and ease.

Not only do this couple know how to follow their instinct, but they also love an adventure, during their wedding planning journey they moved from New York to Spain! — which means we get to hang out more 🤞🏽

Feeling overwhelmed by endless wedding inspirations? That's alright. Often, knowing what you don’t want sets the tone.

For Paco and Miguel, their vision was vivid: an eco-luxe FIESTA bursting with heart and soul.

Set against Seville’s ancient stone backdrop, their love story unfolded as a sensory experience. Think Met Gala entrances, vows in a monastery guided by the brilliant dinner beneath Hollywood glitz, and a Studio 54-vibe afterparty.
Recovering from this fiesta took weeks, but I'd relive it in a heartbeat 💥

Limitations fuel innovation

As designers, we often dive into the vast sea of creativity, only to find ourselves lost in its vastness. Setting boundaries can surprisingly set us free.

For my recent project, I anchored my creativity around three pillars —

* Theatre (Place)
* Middle East (Mood)
* Moss Green (Color)

By refining my focus, a torrent of ideas came forward. It's clear how embracing a few core concepts can elevate the design process.

For all the event stylists and designers out there: When a project brief feels overwhelming, consider narrowing your lens. Choose a color, a place, and a mood. Grounding your imagination can lead to truly transformative designs.
