An acoustic-guitar-based sound with rich harmonies, their sound is reminiscent of say Dave Matthews, yet not exactly. Not many have father and son.
Like Matthews, they fill in the sound with a drummer and bass player to give a powerful group sound. To clinch the deal they throw in a great Sax player, who adds another dimension to the whole sound. I’m not going to gush anymore, just listen to them in the podcast and go out and see them live. I picked up the CD at the Mickey Rats show and it’s a CD you’re tempted to put in and let play in the b
ackground, but before you know it, you’re tapping your feet and reaching for the volume. Why resist, just crank it in the first place…
On August 14, Buffalo 's own original band Off The Cuff will release their sophomore album "500 Hats," the follow up to their debut EP "48". Popular for their harmonious blend of vocals offered by Steve Amuso and Pete Cimino, powerful bass riffs from Brian Iten, driving percussion from Max Henshaw, and unique saxophone talent from Rocco Amuso, Off The Cuff has been compared to Simon and Garfunkel and Dave Matthews Band. In just a short time, OTC has been highly visible in the Buffalo music scene. They've been featured on WBFO, on 103.3 the Edge's Next Wave with Josh Potter, performed at UB, Canisius, the Town Ballroom, and in this year's Taste of Buffalo. We even featured their single "Ginger" in our Allentown Art Festival slideshow. Nationally, the guys have played at Rutgers University , Wheaton College , UB, Canisius and WPI College , among others. www.buffalorising.com courtesy of Dan Fisher
The result of a two day marathon recording session at Audio Magic Studios is the latest release from Off the Cuff aptly titled 48. The band (Steve Amuso-vocals/guitar, Pete Cimino-vocals/guitar, Brian Iten-bass and Max Henshaw-drums) has a melodic acoustic sound ala Dave Matthews Band or Jack Johnson and a good knack for vocal harmonies. Short of overdubs and multi takes the spontaneous sound of the twelve tracks makes for a live disc without the applause. Highlights here are the tunes "Nine To Five", "Waterfall", "Shadows and Echoes" and "Square One". www.bestofwny.com courtesy of Bob Silvestri
5. BUFFALO, NY (WBFO) - Many bands feature family members playing together, but it is frequently a sister, or brother or cousin. Perhaps that is one of the many reasons Buffalo band Off the Cuff is so original. Rocco Amuso is the sax player. Steve, his son plays guitar and sings. Add another talented guitar player and singer, Pete Cimino, Max Henshaw on drums and bassist Briand Iten and you have a contender for Best of Buffalo's Best New Band.
