Hardwood Installation, Sanding, Re-sanding, and Finishing. Many people don’t realize that ¾” hardwood can be re-sanded several times. That’s not the case.
What:
- Basically, we install and sand new raw hardwood floors including the most common hardwoods: maple, oak, cherry, hickory, fir, hemlock, and walnut as well as some exotic species such as Brazilian Cherry, Merbau, Pecan, etc.
- We also re-sand existing hardwood floors and restore them to their original beauty. Even old, scratched-up pre-finished hardwood floors can be sanded down to remove
the old pesky beveled edges and make flat like a gymnasium floor.
- One of the best aspects of creating a custom site-finished hardwood floor for customers is that in addition to many selections of stain colours we can offer, we are able to create any custom colour ourt customers are looking for by mixing different colours together. For example, in addition to all the standard “earth tones” wood stains, we also have at our disposal natural stain, black stain, and white stain. The natural stain lets us “lighten” any tone to give a more subtle look. The addition of small amounts of black stain result in the darker, natural parts of the wood grain to dramatically contrast the wood with the other colour mix which will highlight the lighter grain sections. The white stain allows us to offer an “opaque” or “milky” look by “gray-ing” the stain selection. This is most dramatic when used in conjunction with black stain. How:
- By using new, top-of-the-line dustless sanding equipment in conjunction with keeping up with the latest technology and innovations we are able to satisfy the needs of all of our customers in their desire to add or restore the warmth and beauty of hardwood within their homes.
- In fact, I’m just looking into taking a course which involves a new piece of equipment which literally “bakes” the finish onto the hardwood floor instantly utilizing U.V. technology providing an “instant finish” without any drying time where customers can walk on and place furniture immediately after the process. Of course, this is most useful in commercial applications where a company can be “ready for business” immediately following our application. When:
- Many customers assume they have to vacate their home for the duration of the sanding process. We can and do perform the work while the Homeowners still reside in their home without issue. Why:
- We enjoy what we do. It takes patience, time, and an “eye for detail” to create a flawless site-finished hardwood floor. We take pride in knowing that our hardwood installations will last decades without issue. The satisfaction upon completion is a reward in itself.
- The most rewarding aspect is being able to create specialty floors and staircases. For example, we have done several Herringbone, various Parkay patterns, bordering, and inlays in the past. An inlay can be almost anything a customer wants. It can be filled with a large maple leaf in differing-coloured hardwood, tile, custom patterns, etc. Where:
