As someone passionate about our UK native breeds, on a quest to photograph rare native equine breeds for my book project called Wild Hearts, I often photograph some wonderful ponies who are part of a conservation equine breed program.

I thought I would find out more about equine conservation grazing and create a blog post all about it.

My beautiful encaustic Angel Horse is flying away to her new home in the next few days. A lot of my encaustic artwork gets re-photographed, inspired by the original I edit the photograph to create a limited edition print which is full of texture and very emotive. Happy World Wildlife Day Everyone!

I often get asked why I only create artwork inspired by horses, In Eastern spiritual traditions, they say that there’s a Windhorse who exudes powerful positive energy that has the capacity to influence outcomes, people, and society. They believe that horses inspire us to have faith and believe in positive outcomes within our lives.

I find this truly inspiring and the spirit of Wind Horse is certainly something I continue to search for within my life.

I’d love to think that the artwork I make has a little of this spirit and belief running through the very core of each photograph.

Every horse I’m lucky enough to share a moment with and photograph is very special to me. They deserve their moment to shine I wish to share their beauty, light, and essence and elementally encapsulate within one of my prints for everyone who seeks their own personal Windhorse.

Iceland is one of the most beautiful and enchanting places I’ve ever seen. It has a rare feeling of utter tranquillity which I fell in love with.

Iceland is also home to one of the purest equine breeds in the world the Icelandic Horse, they live in an unspoiled terrain, they are curious, hardy, intelligent, independent and their spirited but gentle temperament is so endearing, that I love spending time with them.

This small collection of photographs is the first series of photographs that aims to capture the natural, raw beauty of these magical horses. This collection will grow over time the more I visit Iceland and capture the spirit of these horses over time.

I'm lucky to be part of an artist studio/gallery called Ebor Studio which is based in Littleborough near where I live.

On Saturday 17th February from 4 pm to 6 PM, we are hosting a farewell winter celebration which will include a postcard exhibition featuring artists' work from Ebor Studio.

They say never meet your idols, well boy are they wrong!
I was absolutely bowled over when I walked into see exhibition The Wild Horses of Sable Island. Roberto Dutesco has always been a great inspiration to me for many years, not only for his emotive photography but also for his conservation work through his IAMWILD foundation. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I walked in to see him standing there! 😳 it was so wonderful to chat with him and gain more insight about his work and future projects. I really hope our paths cross again someday soon.😊

This photograph is of a very beautiful Fell pony, photographed at the wonderful Fell Pony Heritage Trust in Cumbria who kindly let me visit to photograph their ponies early in the year.

One of the biggest perks of my job is being able to have lots of horse snuggles! ♥️

There's nothing better than being in beautiful landscapes, with only the sounds of nature, surrounded by ponies roaming free. The peace & quiet beauty I feel whilst in their company is something which I never take for granted. I always endeavour to capture those feelings within my artwork for others to enjoy and really appreciate the special horses I get to photograph every day.

I believe that horses have the ability to open our hearts and heal us on many levels. They are the embodiment of freedom and spirit.
