Let’s take one step backward: Tölöläb’s debut album is finally out on Spotify, Tidal and other streaming services! It was recorded in February of 2020 and we slowly ground it out through Covid-19. It is finished, and the end result is something we are proud of. 😎

In the age of streaming services all music tends towards wallpaperdom and it’s important every now and then to take a deep breath and go to a concert - musicians exist for that purpose. The album is a difficult medium since it is easy to forget that you can listen to music on it with similar intent and intensity. Sitting on a couch and letting the sound flow through you, without pressing pause or skip even when it might not be something that you would 100% want to hear right now. Letting the music seize the accelerating time for a moment and let its absolute value be revealed - that which can’t be reduced to number of plays and streams, to album or concert reviews, to ticket or record sales, to public health effects, and to the need to be aware of what everybody else is talking about right now.

This is not an invitation to listen to our album (well, who are we kidding, of course it is - we don’t have to pretend that we as a band are onto something extra authentic) but a gentle reminder that an album can be something different than just a dying artform. Do not listen to records for musicians' sake but yours! 💚
