2023 Manatee County Co-Coach of the Year: Colton Chupp ()
Coach Chupp finished his 2nd season with the Mustangs going 16-7. LWR beat some highly ranked opponents such as East Lake, ODA, & PCHS.
Lakewood will be the #1 seed in District 7A-8

When and where did you begin playing baseball?
I played Tee ball at age 4 in the Manatee Cal Ripkin League in Heritage Harbour.
What is your most memorable Mustang moment?
Bus rides are always memorable, but a favorite moment was playing in the 2021 JV tournament championship game and winning it.
Do you have any baseball superstitions?
I don’t like to wash my pants after getting multiple hits in them.
What are your plans after High School?
To attend FAU in the Fall majoring in political science in hopes of my face being on the Jodat Billboards in 20 years 😊
What is the best part about competing?
When the opposing team starts running their mouths and the game gets heated and stressful.
How do your teammates make practice fun?
We screw around with each other during stretching to lighten the mood before we get to business.
What 1 word describes you?
Ruth
Do you have any advice for underclassmen?
Never quit, be a good teammate, keep working hard, and eventually things will turn your way.

I stated playing baseball at 6 years old at Sportsman’s Park in Port St. Lucie, Fl
What is your most memorable Mustang moment?
Winning the JV tournament my Sophomore year and hitting my first Grand Slam.
Do you have any baseball superstitions?
I draw a cross along with the letter “M” for my Uncle Mike who passed away
What are your plans after High School?
Attending MTC to study marine mechanics
What is the best part about competing?
The adrenaline after winning a game

When we all have smiles and not being quiet

When and where did you begin playing baseball?
I began playing baseball at Braden River little league at the age of 4.
What is your most memorable Mustang moment?
Having my first start at IMG on the mound and having 10 strikeouts..
Do you have any baseball superstitions?
Always step on the mound with my left foot first and stepping over the line with my left foot..
What are your plans after High School?
I want to continue playing baseball at the junior college level and study mechanical engineering.
What is the best part about competing?
Seeing the team come together, especially when trying to fight back after being down in a game.
How do your teammates make practice fun?
Always being able to mess around in the outfield and make everything a competition..
What 1 word describes you?
Passionate
Do you have any advice for underclassmen?
Don't try to move too fast - always let your body recover. Injury sucks..

When and where did you begin playing baseball?
I started playing baseball at Heritage Harbour (Cal Ripken league) when I was around 5 years old.
What is your most memorable Mustang moment?
I have several memorable Mustang moments--the most recent when Coach Chupp pulled his hamstring at practice when attempting to sprint down the 1st base line
Do you have any baseball superstitions?
I stick with the same pre-pitch routine in the field to ensure that I am focused and ready.
What are your plans after High School?
I am planning to pursue a passion in Numismatics (new-mis-mat-ics) while working at Pegasus Coin and Jewelry.
What is the best part about competing?
The best part of competing is putting forth learned skills in an effort to win the game
How do your teammates make practice fun?
Practice is never what I define as fun

Dedicated

Develop your skills but remember that baseball is a TEAM sport

My most memorable Mustang moment were the bus rides to games and the Chick fil a.

One baseball superstitions that I have to always play with my chains on.
What are your plans after High School?
I am already accepted into The Med School in Spain at the European University
What is the best part about competing?
Is being able to play with and against my friends.
How do your teammates make practice fun?
By making jokes about random stuff
