Here is a new series of work which I have named “Miss Adela’s Reindeer” Each is paired with a unique base- Pictured here is a reindeer glazed and a reclaimed barn timber that has been upcycled as a base. Just imagine the history in this wood? The series will debut at Feather & Bloom Marketplace on Saturday… doors open at 10 am with no early birds

The Kiln God’s have spoken and from my early morning expression you may conclude the results are “Fine” 🙂

On Saturday December 2, 2023 my new work will be available beginning at 10am via Feather & Bloom Marketplace located at 122 Mountain Road in Suffield, Ct. I would like to take this opportunity to give a huge shout out to the brains and beauty of this tiny shop, Jen and Kristen. These gals along with their talented staff have created a niche market that simply cannot be duplicated. I would also be remiss in failing to acknowledge the many other talented artists/makers that stock the shelves at this local independent woman owned business. It’s truly special spot as together each one of us has woven a large comfy blanket that warms the collective hearts of a community.
On another note, each of us has had our fair share of “LOCAL” yesterday ( Shop Small Saturday) but the truth be told these little shops require our collective patronage throughout the year and simply will not survive without customers throughout the year. This was a factor in my decision to orchestrate the delivery of my work a week after Small Business Saturday. I know, a bit sneaky but when you are in the chaos of producing unique creations, one must have many tricks at your disposal to attract interest..
I will be on hand from 10am to 1pm at Feather & Bloom this coming Saturday and am looking forward to this “Meet the Maker”event.

It’s slow and steady progress here….patience is the key 🧐

Just a little peek of what is going on in my humble little studio…..

From my humble little studio ... I am working to create and produce new work however being an independent artist is not easy nor for the faint of heart. As such, I have made the decision to purposefully limit my production schedule thereby creating limited series of works. The marketing and delivery dates for such will be announced via social media (FB and Instagram). Please consider following Smiling Fish Designs on my Instagram Account "thesmilingfishlady".

I am fairly certain that you are wondering what in the world is "limited series of works?" This equates to my offering a series of works that are created annually but are limited in number. "The Notorious Jacks" were a limited series of works whereby when the 2023 series offerings are sold out...they are sold out and will not be available until the 2024 series is created and delivered. Should you see something that was created and produced by Smiling Fish Designs but you want to "think about it" ... know someone else may buy it while you are processing your decision to purchase such.

Finally, my work will continue to be offered solely at Feather & Bloom Marketplace in Suffield, Connecticut as I have an Exclusive Agreement whereby I have partnered with this venue.As many of you know, this is a small independent women owned business that works hard to establish their brand while making a focused effort to provide a platform for a number of other small businesses thereby providing patrons with a unique shopping experience based on small town values. ((And yes they do ship and have a catalogue of products available online for those not able to patronize their brick and mortar location))

Just a couple Traditional Jacks, one sole Notorious Jack ( aka Smiley) and a few pocket Pumpkins remain of the 2023 production series by Smiling Fish Designs. All are sculpted from clay by hand then bisque fired, glazed for the second or final firing. These can be enjoyed year after year as they will not rot nor attract those pesky flying insects that feed on sugars!!!

At approximately 4:09 pm law enforcement received a second tip from another individual wishing to remain anonymous stating that they also observed “ Jack Smiley” adjacent to an Alpaca traveling on a country road. A spokesperson from the Jack Task Force has stated that there Is a strong likelihood that “Jack Smiley” is headed towards Feather & Bloom Marketplace located on mountain road in Suffield, Ct. Be advised that Task Force Members have this location under surveillance and would like the public to know this orange squash aptly named “Jack Smiley” is the last remaining Jack from the 2023 Notorious Jack Patch…

This afternoon at around 3pm law enforcement received anonymous tip that “ Jack Smiley” had been seeking refuge at a nearby Alpaca Sanctuary. They stated the tipster captured this image as you can see an orange hue is adjacent to the alpaca-

Just in ….

Just landed…these three international thieves from the Notorious International Jack Gang were just observed by both Customs and TSA exiting the terminal after having disembarked from a private charter across the pond. FYI-Law Enforcement Agents have them under surveillance and they are reportedly headed toward Suffield, CT. A spokesman speaking purely under the terms of anonymity has mentioned that the trio could be headed for Feather & Bloom Boutique located on Mountain Road within Suffield. This individual urged the public to not approach as the three may be armed with seeds that could cause some type of harm. The three are likely looking to gain some type of retribution by forging an alliance with the other “Jacks” at that venue. Please note that all have the same physical characteristics of the other organized “Jacks” that are part of the domesticated patch that infiltrated Feather & Bloom a few weeks ago. Again, these are not your average squash they are international and are part of a highly sophisticated patch!!!

The Notorious Jack Gang from Squash Meadow is said to have a tight grip on the recent cultivation and harvest of pumpkins. It is said to be difficult to decipher and authenticate actual membership within this sophisticated organization as each has an orange skin tone and all share the name “Jack”.
An anonymous tip was received by local officials earlier today where it was reported that a few may be headed toward northern Connecticut with some mention of the town of Suffield.Those close to the ongoing oversight of this sophisticated conglomerate have noted that a group may be infiltrating Feather & Bloom Marketplace which is noted as having an address of 122 Mountain Road. A confidential source has stressed that no direct phone calls should be made to this venue as it may comprise the investigation. Be aware that each “Jack” is uniquely crafted by Smiling Fish Designs and though they may be classified as having gone rogue, each will surely add a dash of Halloween cheer to your dwelling. As such, we urge each and everyone of you to monitor Instagram for ongoing and up to date information as to when the Notorious Jack’s will be available for your voluntary apprehension ( aka purchase).
***Though labeled as dangerous we must underscore that all “Jack’s” are innocent until found guilty***
