It's not breaking news by now since many of you have probably seen or heard about it. I first got wind of it sometime between 1 and 2 PM EDT. Please note, the tragic collision occurred at 6:35 AM EDT. Some of the news links were showing the accident hours after the actual incident. *Both* CBS News *and* Ocala StarBanner noted the time of the crash as 6:35 AM. It's unmistakable when we're looking at the chart. (Some headlines were saying 43; but I can't confirm it. This was *not* a school bus.)
53 people were on the bus carrying dozens of *documented* migrants to a watermelon farm not far from where the crash occurred just outside . (I had originally created a chart with Ocala as the location, based solely on my learning the hospital where the injured were taken is in Ocala. The 22 TAU 22 Ascendant for that chart shows a partile conjunction between that and Uranus. The crash site is apparently somewhere between these two locales for those who want to create one for Ocala.)

Note the Eastern, 4th quadrant, above-the-horizon dominance with the *unmistakable* Ta**us stellium between the 12th house and the 1st and Uranus with a 1°15' orb between Uranus and the Ascendant. Pluto Rx sits on the MC. And then we have a Mercury-Jupiter semisextile resolving in a 6th house Resonant Blooming Undecaquartisextile (UQSXT = 165°) at 12 Scorpio 47 in 23-minute partile square to the 4th house Moon in Leo.
Neptune is forming an out-of-sign conjunction to Mars in Aries, a point that doesn't escape my notice with CBS' mentioning Florida, Highway Patrol Lt. Pat Riordan in a press conference who said, "The bus and truck collided in 'a sideswipe-type manner'. The collision sent the bus off the road and it went through a fence and hit a tree before it overturned." It seems to me Riordan described the conjunction perfectly.
One can't miss Saturn's position on the 17th (critical) degree and Neptune's at the 29th (anaretic) degree, both in Pisces, I'm leaving the rest for those of you who want to explore and discuss the chart further.

The news is currently reporting "about 5:30 AM" as the time of the domestic violence incident. I went with that for a look at the chart, never expecting this kind of dynamic. I'm not surprised at the Eastern 1st quadrant dominance, but all 10 basic points are below-the-horizon--unless one wants to consider the 7th house Vertex in opposition to the Sun in the 2nd stellium of the 1st house with out-of-sign Saturn ruling the chart at the far end of the two stellia, 2°05' from the 2nd house cusp. The first stellium is intercepted in Aquarius with Pluto, of course, rising and still conjunct the ASC.
Next, note Uranus in an 18-minute partile conjunction to the IC! The 5th house singleton Moon in the Western hemisphere forms a 4-minute partile trine to 1st house Mercury. Adding more to the moment, the semisextile between Pluto and the Sun resolves at 15 Leo 06, establishing a Resonant Blooming Undecaquartisextile (UQSXT)--unless one wants to consider the Equatorial ASC in opposition to the resolution point of 15 Leo 06. Again, the UQSXT points to not only the outcome but a likelihood of the motivation as well. It's chilling in this community of about 64000 people and certainly played into the deaths of two police officers and the EMS responder. May they RIP.

I've often heard words like "humble" describing both President and Mrs. Carter. Without bringing his chart into it, "humble" certainly described our former First Lady. An Eastern 4th quadrant, above-the-horizon dominance *and* that Virgo rising pointed to a woman served where she was needed--even in the public eye.
One might not have expected a Leo Sun to be described as humble; but even there, it's important to note how deeply spiritual she was. If she had ever been the kind whose ego had gotten the best of her, it certainly wouldn't have shown with a natal Sun-Neptune combust conjunction. She was sensitive, empathetic, intuitive, and yet she knew what she needed to do without asking others' opinions.
The headline mentioned her devotion to human rights and humanitarianism, and yet her chart shows Aquarius on the 6th house cusp but no planetary placements. The chart, however, is remarkable with a unique formation of a Resonant Blooming Undecaquartisextile (UQSXT) created by the Sun-Mercury 12th house midpoint at 17 Leo 11 in semisextile to 11th house Pluto at 16 Cancer 27. This semisextile resolves at 1 Aquarius 49 in the 6th house, sextile Saturn in the 3rd at 1 Sagittarius 09.
Her Sun also formed a 23-minute partile semisextile to 1st house Venus, resolving in a second Resonant Blooming UQSXT at 9 Pisces 43'30" in the 7th house. Here, we see her remarkable motivation through these two aspects, blending the spirituality of Pisces and the humanitarianism of Aquarius.

I'm posting the chart with the time of the crash, thanks to Times Union, for those interested. Take note of the Scorpio rising. Normally I wouldn't be inclined to mention this, but the dynamics in the crash chart are profoundly related since both Mars is the traditional ASC ruler by the natural zodiac and the chart ASC and Pluto is the modern ruler of the chart.
Anaretic 3rd house Pluto is forming a single Undecaquartisextile (165°) to 9th house Mars (1°03' orb) with Pluto squaring the Nodes. The Undecaquartisextile points to the obvious outcome, and Pluto's square to the 6/12 house Nodes indicates a likely catastrophe.
Jupiter's 6th house placement so near to the Descendent brings to mind Lois Rodden's words that Jupiter at the time of passing is often close to the angles. He was wearing a helmet so it seems his departure was almost instantaneous. Rest in peace, Treat. You will be dearly missed.

Hi all! A few days ago, an Amazon package arrived at my door from KISS member . We'd had a few conversations over the last few months; but when he told me he was writing a book, I didn't expect a BOOK of a gasp-worthy 589 pages--a full 200 pages more than my first book. His is on astrology, tarot and the runes. My first wasn't.
I scanned the Table of Contents, constructed a bit differently than I'm accustomed to doing; but that's fine. The author has editorial license. Now I'll admit I tend to read even the preface and acknowledgements especially if the subject matter interests me. It's almost a given when I also know the author as I do Dan.
Dan graciously thanked members and for their assistance--quite appropriate. Anthony will be interviewing Dan on his radio show on June 12th, so the acknowledgement was also well-deserved. But I never expected to see my name in the acknowledgements. I hadn't done much, I'd thought and even noted that to Dan today. He protested my "but, but, but..." I was grateful he also gave KISS (Keep It Simply Serious) Astrology a shout out, quite a nice touch since my site is still in limbo as I wait for it to be relaunched (hopefully before I'm 100 someday).
Okay, enough of the gush about that part of the surprises. The well-deserved gush OTOH goes to Dan who has produced a quality paperback tome. The book is beautiful to look at, very professionally organized and edited.
Looking for a new book to sink your mental teeth into? Consider this one. Obviously I can't tell you a full rundown on the book. I haven't had time to read it yet; but I did get a good impression from the writing style, the layout, the composition and organization, and I'm looking forward to getting into it more. The Eastern, 4th quadrant, above-the-horizon dominance is also easy to spot, especially with that singleton Moon's 57-minute partile conjunction to the 8th house! The final quick-spotter? Uranus forms a 52-minute partile (and for those of you who work with Juno, you might be intrigued with its 49-minute partile) conjunction to the Ascendant! The shooter was a former employee of the bank. Could that explain his reasoning for this morning's actions?
I'm *speculating* in this next thought, nothing more: Note the slightly wide semisextile (30°) between the 1st and 2nd house cusps. Why just speculating? Because the time is only *around* 8:30 AM. No precise time yet, and that could result in a disappointed 'ohhhhh'. I just have found it interesting that a roughly 32° semisextile between these two house cusps resolves in a Blooming Undecaquartisextile (165°) at 00 Sagittarius 20 in tight opposition to that anaretic Venus. The Undecaquartisextile (UQSXT) points to motivation and/or outcome. The Pleiades have held reign over the last degree of Ta**us and the earliest degrees of Gemini for decades. I personally remember someone in my family who lost his life to violence years ago. When the news arrived by phone from another country, I remember looking at the chart: The Pleiades were conjunct the Ascendant.

Saturn on the MC while Uranus is in the 12th house. I can't help but notice the Moon conjunct the ASC. As I pulled up the chart, I kept thinking how odd it seemed that the Moon was conjunct the ASC and that Mars--in the 1st in Moon-ruled Cancer--rules the Aries stellium. Mars *also* forms a 1-degree orb in a single quincunx (150°) to Pluto. The Vertex is opposed to Venus on the 12th house cusp, conjunct Uranus. Everything seems so unexpected about this, from the dominances to the Moon on the ASC, and much much more: The midpoint in that wide semisextile (30°) between Saturn and Pluto resolves in a square to Uranus, which also means the Resonant Blooming Undecaquartisextile (165°) at 16 Leo 01 receives the 34-minute partile square from Uranus as well.
Could the shooter be a female?
The undecaquartisextile patterns point to motivations and/or outcomes. If it was a woman, I can't begin to imagine the fury; but I'm reminded of those words: "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."

Note the singleton Western Moon in opposition to 1st house Jupiter (rising) *and* that Libra Moon *also* forming a 10-minute partile quincunx to 12th house Mercury in Pisces. I'm especially struck, however, by the semisextile between 11th house Pluto and 12th house Saturn, both of which are in anaretic positions. The semisextile resolves in an Undecaquartisextile (165°) at 14 Leo 53 in a 56-minute partile square to Uranus. The Undecaquartisextile in this case points to outcome. Motivation doesn't appear to exist in this scenario: It was totally unexpected, and at such a tight hour before the Norfolk Southern CEO testified before Congress, the timing couldn't have been worse!

With great sorrow, I'm posting the news of the passing of astrologer Jonathan Flanery. Jonathan moved on in his life journey in the wee hours of this morning, January 23, 2023, following a massive coronary on January 21. Following signs that his liver and kidneys had begun to fail, Jonathan's brother made the decision according to Jonathan's wishes to remove life support.

An even split between the 1st quadrant Eastern and 2nd quadrant Western hemispheres might seem as if he had been torn between the self-expression and the creative need to make music with more than just himself; but don't be fooled by such a back-and-forth sense of dominance in his chart. Take note of the Mars-ruled Aries rising with Mars not just *in* the first house, but conjunct the Ascendant. Whether or not everyone around him always understood him, it seems Mars was indeed his ruler, and it seems he might not have also understood himself as much as he did the cycles of life.
The entire below-the-horizon dominance in his chart spoke to his being introspective, perhaps too much of a thinker, if that's possible. It has been said that "Music soothes the savage beast," and perhaps he was living proof of those words. I look at the 29-minute trine between his 6th house Venus in Virgo and his 2nd house Moon in Ta**us; but it's more complex than that: Venus forms a conjunction to his North Node, while the Moon forms a conjunction to Saturn.
His music was his all: the Sun formed a 5th house conjunction to Mercury, and Pluto, while not conjunct that need to communicate through Mercury, might well have compelled him to create and self-heal through his work. ("Physician, heal thyself" might be another descriptor for him.)
He was one of those who worked until the end, and music was truly the score of his life. He wanted to beat the clock and do more with whatever time he had left. Look to Mars rising for that tell-tale sign.
Mercury was the primary heartbeat of his chart although Mars did its own thing in exercising its will. He was impulsive, but what calmed him appears to have been that need to write. Through the written word put to music, he was able to express himself and find his life blood through his 10th house Part of Fortune (PoF) in Capricorn. It seems to me he wasn't as comfortable *saying* what he needed to express. Take note of the quincunx (150°) between Mercury and the PoF. His music and lyrics were his voice. Just imagine the music he'll make on the next stop in his journey!
