For 5 years, we have enjoyed performing a variety of renovations services for a wonderful variety of customers. This year, we were fortunate to be able to relocate to the Canyon Lake area. While carving out a name for ourselves in this new location (see our profile for all of the areas that we are working from), we have decided to take the opportunity to do a bit of rebranding as well as homing in on the services that we will provide in the future.

We are now known as Stiff Neck Renovations and will primarily focus on Kitchen Renovations, Cabinetry, Custom Carpentry and Furniture Restorations.

Before and after of our latest kitchen renovation. This kitchen was flooded when a pipe burst during the big Texas freeze. The upper cabinets boxes were the only parts of the original kitchen that were retained and they received new Shaker-style doors to match the new lower cabinets and island. Lower cabinets were built from furniture-grade birch with butcher block counter-tops. The formerly unused corner was opened up with a double corner door, adding lots of extra storage. The new Island is much larger and houses a slide-out double trash bin. The farm-style sink is sitting in a custom cabinet, designed specifically to withstand the weight of a fully ceramic sink filled with dishes or water. With the exception of the island, all cabinets are elevated 3 inches above the floor on legs, rather than resting directly on the floor. Kick plates are held in by friction and in combination with the elevated cabinets, any chance of future flooding damage has been greatly reduced and can be easily cleaned up. New flooring, backsplash and paint complete the look.

It's so important to have clean gutters for your home. Gutters direct the water away from your home and from causing foundational problems. Allowing your gutters to become filled with leaves and sediment will also ensure that water is also trapped in the gutters. 80 feet of filled gutters can weigh so much that the gutter literally twists and becomes so misshapen that even after cleaning water won't flow through the gutter correctly and gutter guards no longer fit well enough to do their job.

It was wonderful to deliver the finished cedar chest this morning and see the owner's happiness as they viewed it. I'm very happy to be able to help them pass this wonderful heirloom forward to generations to come.

The new veneer turned out great after drying overnight. Timing and sanding around all those contours was a challenge, but turned out looking like the original. Stain is on, poly next...
