Team Ninja Shark
Team Ninja Shark makes comic books.
Will Hack defend the FMLL Undisputed World Heavyweight Championship? Or will Montez's plan get spoiled? Can Matt King come through in time?
That's for me to know, and you to find out in Undisputed. This winter...
Took an extended break after our first Kickstarter failed. In that time we secured financing for a full first issue of a new comic written & created by P.J. Curling called Undisputed. It's a pro wrestling/action limited series that will be coming out this winter from Team Ninja Shark.
This is Matt King. "What's my name? Matt Fu***ng King." He's an American tecnico', affiliated with Hack Halloway (who you'll meet here later). Character design by & veteran, Francesco Iaquinta.
Introducing first, representing Los Rudos Internacional, the tag team of Tigre Negro, Tigre Blanco, Los Tigre Terible.
Art by Francesco Iaquinta.
This is a slight change of plans...
We have shelved Taking Out the Dead until winter so we can focus on Undisputed.
Undisputed is an 80's straight-to-VHS inspired action story in a pro wrestling world. We have secured financing to produce a complete first issue (of what will be a 3-issue limited series).
Undisputed will be drawn by Italian artist Francesco Iaquinta, who's work was most recently seen in September for his cover of Rise of the Goatman on AfterLight Comics. He's also a co-creator of Dark Untold on Scout Comics. Francesco will be joined by Wedersom Arantes, a Brazilian artist who's credits include animated shorts that have been screened at festivals in the US, Brazil and Portugal. In addition to select pages, Wedersom will also be doing our A-cover for issue 1.
Marco Della Verde joins us again as our letterer.
Stay tuned for updates as we can provide them...including art previews!
Now, if you're excited for to see a comic come out of Team Ninja Shark. Or if you love comics. Hell, son. If you love pro wrestling. Give me your best Hell Yeah and hit me with a good wrestling gif.
I have contacted the art team, and we are moving into production on Taking Out the Dead #1. We anticipate a rate of 2-3 pages per month. But we will be looking to build a new Kickstarter campaign in hopes of accelerating that pace.
I have also started writing a new limited series called Undisputed, which draws inspiration from 80s straight to VHS movies and pro wrestling.
We're probably not getting funded. And I have some thoughts.
One Week to Go on Kickstarter Or: How to Cope With Probably Not Getting Funded
Been working on some Kickstarter rewards. Backers at the "SneakerNet" level will get a 3.5" floppy disk full of exclusive content. Including this. Which is *at least* the login page for FRIC NET (Fall River Intranet Connection), which in world is a BBS for zombie apocalypse survivors living in Fall River, MA.
SneakerNet tier backers will also get an audio cassette full of unreleased material from musical collective Fluid Factory. Because analog & retro tech is fun.

Last Sunday I was on Long Box Punk. Hope you give it a listen.
Long Box Punk and Mental Health P.J.'s first podcast appearance, promoting Taking Out the Dead.
Taking Out the Dead creator/writer P.J. Curling sat down with Chris Stall from Long Box Punk last night.
We talk about writing a zombie comic book with a unique perspective, running a Kickstarter campaign, and stray into mental health & breaking the abuse cycle.
It's a great (and dare I say important) conversation that I think is worth some of your time.

Taking Out the Dead #1 The Last Home Stand Part 1
Preview of what one of the Taking Out the Dead #1 variants might look like. About 30% of the way done. But this is the Dr. Carl Martin photo cover. Going with a VHS slipcase inspired look because Carl's doing an 80's movie about a DJ inspired shoot.
What's an 80's movie or a movie about a DJ that you think would make for a good tribute cover?
