Simmer Doon Pop-Up Restaurant

We are delighted to introduce Chef Zoe who will re-open the Greedy Gecko on Friday 1st July 2022 at 08:00am, with a combination of our classic favourites and some exciting new additions.

Watch this space for our summer and winter menu updates, with plans to introduce fresh ground coffee, home-made soup, and possibly even baked potatoes! We are also looking to expand our offering for those with special dietary requirements including gluten free, dairy free and vegan.

Zoe lives locally and has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Greedy Gecko from the beginning and will be a familiar face to many who visit the Murieston Park area.

Zoe said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Lyndi for all her time and hard work to make the Greedy Gecko the success it has been to date. I’m proud to be taking over the running of this much-loved Snack Bar, and I’m looking forward to continuing the Gecko’s proud tradition of great food & service with a smile.”

Unfortunately due to isolation requirements for some of our helpers on the 18th, we have had to cancel our takeaway. I believe I have refunded and contacted all those who had booked. A busy day in the kitchen preparing last nights Vietnamese menu, broth for our noodles, spicy meatballs, Vietnamese rice. Can’t really decide what my favourite was - loved it all but maybe the caramelised pork was a winner for me.

Have you ever tried Vietnamese Egg Coffee? Simple to make and a great way to finish off a Simmer Doon Vietnamese takeaway.

You will need
6 tsp Vietnamese black coffee powder or ground coffee of your choice
Hot water
2 egg yolks
3 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
Brew the coffee using either a traditional Vietnamese coffee filter, or contraption of your choice. for at least 5 minutes.
Place yolks and condensed milk in a small bowl and whisk until thick and creamy.
Stop whisking when the egg mixture is the consistency of custard.�
Divide the hot coffee between 2 glasses, then pour the egg mixture on top. It will float to the surface and sit on top of your coffee like a nice sweet blanket.�
Enjoy!
