Blooming north eastern food across India - gourmet style
Two years ago I participated in another cooking reality tv show called βHills On A Plateβ shot in Meghalaya covering culinary, cultural and tourism aspects of our beautiful State. Now that it is close to being aired I wanted to share some beautifully written pieces by journalists who travelled to Meghalaya last month as part of the Hills On A Plate Festival to experience what Meghalaya has to offer first hand.
Thank you .manjulika for penning down your thoughts
This recipe has some of my tricks that I use to try and replicate the flavour however, the chef's secret touch is something hard to do. Also, the wok and the flame make all the differenceπ₯ but we can always tryπ

Contributed a small something to feature Northeastern Ingredients
4 Healthy Ingredients From North East India Lakadong turmeric may be expensive, but it is worthwhile; a little bit goes a long way.
For the new followers on my pages, I'm .phanbuh founder of Tribal Gourmet, a Northeastern pop up kitchen. I'll be taking you through some of the local experiences in
the coming days that one can experience when in
Meghalaya. My love for the North Eastern culture will
only hold value if I share it with the world.
You can expect a lot of recommendations, food trails,
insights into the local markets and ingredients that you
will find in that part of the country.
Take your pick ! Help me choose between these two ingredients, let me know in the comments below.
Mustard fish - was craving that pungent tangy taste and so I made a quick dish. Mustard + mustard oil and a bunch of green chillies for extra kick; would've had better texture if I had khuskhus but alas..
Coupled with hot rice, so satisfying π
What a wonderful evening it was, talking about what I do under Tribal Gourmet and being a part of the panel with such amazing creators from Meghalaya.

We started off with the Khar - traditionally eaten first - the banana ash alkaline with squash & a drizzle of raw mustard oil (I started & finished with this. Full circle; finishing half of it)
Then slowly had dish by dish - the pork, pumpkin fritters, daal, prawn chorchori (Bengali style), a salad made with ingredients fron their own garden & last but not least - Masor Tenga.
Also notice the Bogori pickle & ground bogori + sawtooth coriander chutney
