Illinois FFA State Convention 2024

Day 3- Another busy day with the third and fourth sessions where Laikyn Parchert, Emma DeKeyrel, Owen Bull, and Ava Craver were recognized for earning their Illinois FFA State Degree! Our Greenhand Quizbowl team competed at the state level and although they did not advance we are so proud of the work they put in!!

AND

Day 4- Started with the election session where Macy and Laikyn represented our chapter as delegates to vote on the new 2024-2025 State Officer Team, more awesome performances by our choir and band members, and we ended on a high note 🎵 as we watched Addi Aring perform on stage as the fifth general session talent!! We are headed home, tired, but so incredibly proud of these members who represented Rockridge FFA well! Way to go to all!

Illinois FFA State Convention 2024

Day 1- Traveled to Springfield to kick off a great convention with Smokey Bones for dinner and a little fun at Knights Action Park, Scheels, and some pool time!

AND

Day 2- Started the day with a tour of the state capitol building, then the first and second general sessions where Rockridge FFA was recognized for our Bronze rating of the National Chapter Award AND we got to see some awesome performances from members including Colton Reid (IL FFA State Choir), and Morgan Flickinger & Caleb Littrell (IL FFA State Band), some community service where our members packaged meals for those in need, and of course some Texas Roadhouse!

Thanks to this hardworking crew for planting 25 trees this past Saturday!

Just a reminder that any FFA member interested in participating in the Vo-Ag fair this summer, must have their entry forms and fees turned in by Friday May 24th!

Just a reminder that the online auction starts today at 12 PM CDT! All proceeds go to the Mom Friend Project for su***de awareness and prevention.

Bidding may be done by adding a comment under the item with your price. Bids will be accepted until May 11, 2024 at 12 PM (CDT), and the highest bidder will be notified via a private message to their Facebook account.

Prints can be picked up during the event or mailed to the highest bidder for a small fee. Payment accepted at the event or via mail to Sherrard FFA at 4701 176th Ave. Sherrard, IL. Cash or check only (make checks out to Sherrard High School).

Section 4 Banquet 🔵🟡

What an awesome banquet awards ceremony put together by the Section 4 officer team!

Macy Hoag was elected as the 24-25 Section 4 Reporter.

Presley Johnson received the winning Quizbowl certificate on behalf of our 1st place Quizbowl team, who will be competing at the District/State contest at state convention in June.

Marissa Gauley was recognized as the section winner of the electricity area for Ag Mechanics.

Teagan Reed was recognized as a section proficiency winner in the area of Ag Sales.

Ava Craver was recognized for her 1st place win within her room at the Ag Sales CDE.

Emma DeKeyrel received the Chuck Award for her passion and enthusiasm for FFA.

Congratulations to all of these awesome members on their accomplishments 👏🏻

Please note that orders must be picked up between May 6-8 & May 10 (7:30am - 5:30pm) or May 9 (7:30am - 3:30pm) and payment is due upon pick -up.

Congratulations to Marissa Gauley for competing at the State Ag Mechanics CDE in the area of electricity!

Marissa got to identify electrical parts, diagram electrical circuits, and wire up an electrical scenario. We are so proud of her for making it to the state level!

Congratulations to these four awesome FFA members who applied and were selected to perform on stage at the 96th annual Illinois FFA State Convention!

We had so much fun teaching Illinois City and Taylor Ridge students about agriculture today!!

MORE livestock judging this past Monday for the section contest!

This team traveled to the Henderson County Fairgrounds and judged various classes with Keegan Bohnsack placing 21st overall and Emma Brown placing 25th overall in the section!

This crew traveled to the U of I yesterday for state livestock!

They judged several classes including performance Simmental bulls, Southdown ewes, breeding does, and market hogs. The team placed 82nd in the state! Great job team!

We are so proud of Emma DeKeyrel and Addi Aring for representing Rockridge FFA LIVE on WQAD this afternoon!

They highlighted our second annual Ag Day, which has expanded into a two day event this year, which will take place this coming Monday and Tuesday!

We will have several agricultural learning stations for our 500 Rockridge elementary students, which will include a lesson on Charlie Edward's SAE project - hydroponics. Check out Emma and Addi on the news discussing this project and our Ag Day event!

Rockridge High School reaps benefits of first hydroponic harvest The students have been growing lettuce, peas, broccoli, basil, cucumbers & tomatoes in their hydroponic 'Flex Farm' which uses minimal water and energy resources.

It may be snowing, but things are blooming in the greenhouse! 🌸
