When I was a kid, I went to see The Blue Angels perform in Texas. And it blew my mind. I got the pilots to sign a poster of their six planes midair, inches away from each other, flying as one...a poster that lived on my bedroom wall until I left for college.

While making Top Gun: Maverick, I got to fly with the Blue Angels in an air show and it was truly the thrill of a lifetime. I realized with modern IMAX technology, I could give audiences that same ride. So I teamed up with JJ Abrams to put audiences in the cockpit and the real heroes in the spotlight.
