Hi everybody!

It has been an amazing experience to participate in the 5-days George Brown College and Brookfield Sustainability Institute Charrette about Smart Sustainability.

The Charrette reunited a pool of talented local and international students coming from George Brown College (Canada), KEA - Copenhagen School of Design and Technology (Denmark), Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Università Commerciale L. Bocconi (Italy) and University of Toronto (Canada). From diverse design disciples including: UX, UxD, service design, graphic design, architecture, urban planning/design and project management. We also count with amazing organizers and facilitators who gave us insightful and profound feedback. Besides, I was also honored, grateful and trilled to be appointed co-facilitator in our charrette by our kind and strong facilitator Shree Vaishnavvi!

The charrette teams have interesting global current topics spanned from:

• future of food and short food supply chain
• modest sustainable suburban dwellings
• landmark community centre, heritage, sustainability, and rural community
• linear self-sustaining city
• historic landmark, reconciliation, rehabilitation, and a sustainable future
• medical tourism in Barbados
• housing development for newcomers
• remodeling of the GBC Chefs’ House restaurant

We worked in the theme of short food supply chain, designing a scalable community aquaponics hub, which implements the latest sustainable technologies, bringing physical and mental wellness, food security and economic impact to the community!

This has been definitely an enriching multidisciplinary experience, learning and envisioning smart sustainability solutions and applying inclusive cross-disciplinary teamwork. Finally, our team was also extremely proud and excited to receive the 1st award recognition for our collective efforts!

Bravo to everybody again, and thank you for this great opportunity!
