The 95,250-square-foot UC Santa Barbara #LearningPavilion is setting new standards for sustainable innovative design. This cutting-edge facility has not only provided a substantial 35% increase in classroom capacity but has also been meticulously designed by LMN Architects to encourage spontaneous interactions and collaborative engagement between students and faculty. Saiful Bouquet worked very closely with #LMN to develop an innovative structural design that allowed the current design to materialize, contributing to the creation of UC Santa Barbara's first entirely new classroom building in over 5 decades. One of the key design highlights lies in the seamless integration of long-span steel trusses into the classroom exteriors above the third floor, extending an impressive 110 feet directly over the lecture halls. This ingenious approach not only optimizes the ceiling height within these spaces but also offers enhanced flexibility for the placement of essential utilities and ductwork. Having opened its doors to students as planned in the Spring Quarter of 2023, the LEED Gold certified Learning center stands tall as a beacon of modern educational excellence. The Saiful Bouquet team is thrilled to be honored with two awards at the 2022 Excellence in Engineering Awards hosted by SEAOSC-Structural Engineers Association of Southern California. The new 34-story Landmark Los Angeles residential tower threads an existing 1980s full city block development and was built right through the existing 4-story, post-tensioned long-span subterranean parking structure. A new one-acre landscaped park was also created by repurposing the surface parking lot on top of the subterranean parking. LAX Midfield Satellite Concourse North, the largest cloud-based C4R project in the world, is a new $1.7 billion, 750,000 sf, 15-gate terminal that provides a world-class travel experience for passengers while improving accessibility, flexibility, and operational capacity at LAX. Our team collected over 1,900 cans for this year’s build titled “Hangry Llama”.
