Ticog Art
The medium is made of ticog (Fimbristylis Globulosa), one of commonly used, very adaptable mat weaving material in the Philippines.
The stem of this plant is processed and dried and after obtaining its proper texture, it is cut to the appropriate length for the desired mat size. It is then dyed and dried and flattened before they are woven into mats. For the artwork, the artist used dyed buri stem strips embroidering it by running through the weaves. It is a laborious, intense art style but resulting in a pleasant and eye appealing art form. Quite different from other art medium.
