Novels Classic 2015!

How privilege I feel to be part of this wonderful event for the 8th time! This tournament is a showcase for outstanding talent, fabulous tennis and an abundance of positive energy while local tennis development receives a mayor boost.

The Karoo Tennis Kidz salutes every player and is highly appreciative of the wonderful effort that 110 players made to come from all over the Karoo and Northern Cape to participate in probably the best sponsored Junior tournament in South Africa. Frankie Sequeira (Novels Outfitters) our main sponsor, you have outdone yourself once again.

Superb weather added further to a wonderful day of tennis - cannot wait for tomorrow.

Congratulations to very player on good sportsmanship! Tomorrow play starts officially at 7:30 am with some pre-arranged matches starting at 7 am. Prize giving ceremony at 3 pm. See you there!

KET needs a full-time tennis coach to start in January 2015. If you have a background as a tennis player, but have not yet done your coaching courses please add it to your CV. KET can help with coaching courses. (Preferably you need to have completed the Play and Stay training with SATA)

Professional competence - Reliable transport - fluent in English and Afrikaans- excellent communication skills - passion to teach, learn and develop - highly energetic - fit and healthy - respect for self, players, co-workers - excellent personal hygiene - Responsible - 100% reliable and trustworthy - have empathy and adaptability.

Die Novels Classic tennistoernooi is sonder gelyke en word jaarliks ten bate van tennisontwikkeling in die Karoostreek aangebied. Tans is daar 86 ontwikkelingspelers wat weekliks tennislesse ontvang. Die Karoo Tennis Kidz het tans 'n vakante pos vir 'n afrigter en hoop om binnekort weer 'n permanente aanstelling te maak.

Die Novels Classic kon slegs die eerste103 inskrywings van oor die hele sentrale Karoostreek en Noord Kaap aanvaar. Van so ver as Upington, Douglas, Bloemfontein, Middelblurg, Colesberg, Hopetown, Graaff Reinette, Richmond, Britstown, Petrusville, Kimberley, Phillipstown en De Aar het spelers deelgeneem.

Die toernooi het reeds Vrydag om 8 uur begin met enkelwedstryde wat in ‘n rondomtalie gespeel is. Die wedstryde is Saterdag voltooi, met die uitspeel tot die finales in elke ouderdomsgroep waarna die dubbel-uitklop wedstryde gespeel is.

Die hoofborg, Novels Uitrusters het asemrowende pryse geborg. Elke speler het met sy inskrywing ‘n sportsak ontvang met 'n Adidas-hoed, waterbottel, Tenniskode sook vele verassings en die eerste drie plasings van elke ouderdomsgroep het fantastiese pryse ontvang o.a. New Balance en Adidas tenniskoene, sportsakke, beursies, sokkerb***e, sokkies en kontantpryse.

Die spelers het uitmuntende tennis gespeel en die toernooi so geniet dat daar na afloop spelers was wat terug op die bane wou gaan om nog ‘n paar b***e te slaan.

Soos in die verlede is die fokus geplaas op goeie baan-etiket en sportmanskap. Vooraf is daar tydens die opening verduidelik wat goeie baan-etiket en sportmanskap behels en dit was opmerklik hoe elke speler dit ter harte geneem het.

Alle spelers wat uitmuntende sportmanskap getoon het se name is in ‘n hoed gegooi en die gelukkige wenners wat Dunlop rakette ontvang het is vervolgens:
Megan Hendrikse van Colesberg en Artho Wolfaardt van Middelburg.

This week we had to so goodbye to Meryll Bayly! :((

We are sad to see Meryll Bayly; the Karoo Kidz Tennis Coach for the past 6 months say goodbye to us. Meryll is off to live her dream in becoming the best sheep farmer in the Karoo. Sjjjuuuuut!!! (A secret amongst the office staff: As a farewell gift we have entered her for Boervrou-soek-'n-man!)

Meryll we know that you will love the outdoors, fresh air and beautiful landscape of Jakkalskuil and the challenge of learning all that you can to reach your dream. You have what it takes to become a super successful sheep farmer. What a bliss to share precious time with your marvellous parents.

From our side we cannot say thank you enough for the sincerity and dedication that you have shown towards the most vulnerable children of our community. Thank you for knowing every kids name and making their time on court as special as possible.

Meryll, you have also offered many hours of extra maths classes to the Matrics of 2014. Know that they are extremely thankful. The marks from the September exams are coming in and are the sweet proof of dedication, commitment and hard work.

Hope to see you from time to time when you come to town for supplies!
