everybody loves a good before and after shot: the feature wall and new paint throughout this bedroom reno has added so much texture and brightness to the space. it’s no secret that fresh white paint will do wonders for the lightness of a room, and i’m so glad we decided to go back to basics for this project. white and black, with wood accents and fresh greenery makes this a clean and cozy spot to wind down, and a tidy and happy place to wake up. 🤙🏻🛠

pro tip: when working with mdf, always important to prime before you paint - just like you would with any raw materials. ALSO - if you’re painting a dark color, ask the store to tint your primer as dark as they’re able, in the color palette you’ll be painting your top coat. this feature wall will be finished with “black onyx”, so we tinted the primer with black tint, as dark as we could (there’s only so much room in the can). i kinda like this gray, but that black is going to be stunning 🖤🤙🏻🛠

just because we shouldn’t be in “contact”, doesn’t mean we can’t stay in touch 💁🏻‍♂️...

if you’re in south jersey or pa, would love to setup a virtual project review to help you conceptualize and talk through some of the projects you’d like to tackle in your home.

as a realtor and contractor: i can help review the scope of work and budget for your projects 🛠, assess the current market value of your home📈, dialogue about the areas in which it would be smart to spend money💰, and run some rough numbers on if it makes sense to refinance while rates are low to find some money for the renovations🤓.

feel free to like, share, comment or send me a dm if you’d like to set aside some time for a conversation 🤙🏻🛠🏚🏠

Our Teens Need To Know That Trade Jobs Are Sitting Empty 09/03/2020

great article highlighting a few things we already knew... good help is hard to find, and college isn’t the only path to success. if you, a friend, neighbor, or family member find yourselves in need of some help or guidance for a home renovation project, or any other kind of skilled labor task - we’re always happy to serve and take away the pain of renovating, and/or find you the best fit for your need if it’s not in our wheelhouse. 🤙🏻🛠🏡

Our Teens Need To Know That Trade Jobs Are Sitting Empty Trade jobs are sitting empty and our teens need to know about it. We just don't hear about that option for post high school careers often enough.

slat wall progress report: by some act of god, we were blessed with the exact mathematics to work for the slat size/spacing we landed on, to be a precise match for the width of the window + new trim + slat border, along with the wrap on the outlet cover. 🙌🏻

this feature wall will be painted black to contrast the new white walls in the bedroom, and will have a black/brass combo sconces mounted to the wall over each new nightstand. more to come... 🤙🏻🛠🖤

this is what the aftermath of milling slats for a feature wall looks like... 🤙🏻🛠💁🏻‍♂️

who out there is afraid of heights? i’ll be honest, it’s not my favorite thing to be working way up high, and i still get some adrenaline pumping through me when i climb up on a roof. BUT i think that little bit of nerves is your body making sure your senses are heightened, and you’re aware of every tiny curve, slope, edge, and potential hazard.

oh yeah, by the way, so, we do roofing windows and siding - all kinds of exterior renovations. feel free to reach out if you’re looking for more information and an estimate on any sort of exterior projects on your home... or your friends home... i mean, if you’re like a really great friend. 🤙🏻🛠🏚🏡

love seeing my custom builds being put to good use. this bar height table was a lot of fun to make and even more fun to eat of off.
🤙🏻🛠🧀

side note: more people need to know about armenian string cheese. go get some, really.

throwback to meeting this diynetwork legend, jeff devlin. that day i used a 100 year old wood plane, and fell in love with gransfors bruks axes forever 🤙🏻🛠❤️

11/02/2020

PSA: use pvc trim on your exterior doors and windows if you have ornate trim work that you want to last. wood will rot, crack, split, and degrade over time - especially when exposed to rain, sun, and temperature swings. this new trim will now last a lifetime with no maintenance. 🤙🏻🛠😎

once in a while i collaborate on projects with my uber talented bride... usually for one of a kind gifts or commissioned builds. this was a fun project to work on making signs for our sweet nephew and niece. 🤙🏻🛠👩🏻‍💻

-“hey, can you take this wall cabinet and turn it into a base cabinet, install it onto this tiny ledge, and trim-out this other wall cabinet and make sure there’s no gaps along the ceiling - the ceiling isn’t really level?”

— “uh... yeah” 🤙🏻🛠

it’s fun working with friends, especially when they want to pitch-in with their own sweat equity. now that these new steps and landing are built, it’s much easier to access the backyard, where there are many more projects to come - in order to make it the dream oasis they’ve been wanting for a while.
🤙🏻🛠

this basement had experienced a bit of water damage, and when we tackled the rebuild, we decided to add some new doors in order to easily access the water shutoff and sub-pumps. besides that it was just putting humpty dumpty back together again to make it look like nothing had ever happened. 🤙🏻🛠

these custom floating shelves and desk were a perfect addition to create this very literal “corner office”. super happy with the finished product, and excited they will get tons of use! 🤙🏻🛠👩🏻‍💻

tag-teamed this reading nook project with a couple of diy homeowners who wanted some skin in the game for the renovation. we added lattice pine to the seams of the wall panels, to give them a board and baton look without having to remove the paneling. then retrimmed and painted the entire room. i mean... i wouldn’t mind sitting here with a cup of coffee and a book for a few hours, but that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♂️🤙🏻🛠

Photos from P&H Renovations's post 11/02/2020

a better one-step, wipe-on finish there is not. 🤙🏻🛠

11/02/2020

PSA: if you’re a diy homeowner, and you want a professional looking finished product... please tape-out your caulk lines and make them look amazing. if you don’t, it could mean a big mess later on; and possibly scraping, patching, re-caulking. 🤙🏻🛠

and suddenly... there’s an opening where there wasn’t one before 🤙🏻🛠

had a blast working on this master bath project for a homeowner looking to make some improvements before listing their home for sale. updating this bathroom (the lingering house project) made this home completely move-in ready, and enabled them to get multiple offers in a few short days on the market! swipe through for the before shots... see if you can spot what we reused 🤙🏻🛠🧐

extra storage and wine... two things we could all arguably use more of. great working on this project to help a homeowner in mt laurel add more useable space to their kitchen 🤙🏻🛠🍷

love working with local businesses on custom builds for their spaces. looking forward to having a meal at one of the bistro tables we built for the pie lady’s new location on main st. 🤙🏻🛠🥧

when your client is artistic, and takes a swing at a mock-up for the built-ins they’d like in their basement 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤙🏻🛠

10/02/2020

just a little home maintenance fun... satisfying to tackle your OWN projects once in a while. 🤙🏻🛠

Photos from P&H Renovations's post 10/02/2020

PSA: be sure to check your dryer vents on the exterior of your home, AND clean out your dryer vent lines! many house fires can start from the drier vent clogging up, and the lint buildup is very flammable! if your dryer isn’t performing as well as it should... clothes seem damp after a cycle has been run... please check your vents and lines as a first step, and precautionary measure.

if you need help or further advice with this or other home maintenance projects, feel free to reach out and we can setup a walkthrough
